lapper Started a new thread You might be a Motohead...

1/27/2012 2:54am
OK...Things are a little slow in the off season, so here's something to fill the time until the next gate drops. What if Jeff Foxworthy was a Motohead? Here's 10 to get things started. 1. If you get a X-mas card from your Orthopedic Surgeon…you might be a Motohead. If they ask to use you as a reference…you are a...

lapper Started a new thread $4K in Privateer awards @ Budds Creek

1/27/2012 12:44am
Southern Maryland Dirt Riders Club will be awarding their seventh annual Southern Maryland Dirt Riders Privateer Award at the AMA Motocross National at Budds Creek on Saturday, June 18th to two lucky privateers. This is the fifth year that the award is given in the memory of Kevin Crine #574. Along with a beautiful plaque, which will be awarded on...

Greetings all. Long time lurker who's finally decided to come out of the shadows. Let the STFU's begin. By the way, I prefer FNG over NOOB.

lapper Started a new thread I'm 82% Jody

1/23/2012 11:42am
In another thread, [url=http://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Moto-Related,20/f-you-Jodie,525169] some members took offense to one of Jody's MX concepts, attitudes and beliefs in July's Jody's Box . Others strongly agreed and the fire is still raging. I don't want to hijack the thread, but there's 16 more. Read them for yourself, count the number you agree with, and divide by 17. What percentage of a...

The Southern Maryland Dirt rider will be presenting the 5th annual Privateer award in memory of Kevin Crine. The only mandatory requirement is that you must qualify for the Budds Creek main. The judges have a list of potential candidates, and are always looking for more. One of the most difficult tasks in the selection process has been actually finding...

lapper Started a new thread So. Maryland night life before Budds Creek

1/20/2012 11:48am
There's not much...but if you're eligible for the Vet class... The Steve Miller Band will be performing that Friday night at the Calvert Marine Museum . The Museum is about 10 miles from the track. http://calvertmarinemuseum.ticketforce.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=21 This is not spam, and I'm not associated with the museum in any way. Just passing on some local info that out-of-towners may find...

lapper Added a reply to Bad circlip- arrugh!

1/20/2012 9:00am
The circlip opening should always be at the very top or bottom of the piston. Here's why... @6000 rpm, your RM-85's piston is traveling approx. 30 feet per second. It's going from full speed to a dead stop (TDC/BDC), to full reverse speed 200 times in that same second. The gravitation (G) force on the circlip are huge. Try to...

lapper Started a new thread How bad was the 2nd 250 Budds moto rain? - Photos

1/14/2012 8:40am
These aren't great action shots, but they really capture how bad the conditions were for the 2nd 250 moto. Notice the pond overflowing on the right. That stream was running across the track farther down the valley " /> Notice the rider parked behind the Parts Unlimited banner in the lower right. If you look at the middle left, you'll...

lapper Added a reply to special tools

12/30/2011 8:42am
I guess it depends how deep you plan to go, and what type bikes you'll be working on. I definitely agree that a good torque wrench should be your first purchase. As far as real "specialty" tools, check your service manual. It should list the factory tools specific for servicing our bike. Read the manual and see where and how...

lapper Added a reply to TV And Our Sport (s)....

I agree with the honorable statesman from Ohio...at least I think I do. I would trade live coverage for consistent more in-depth coverage. Who watches TV on Saturday afternoon in the summer anyway? I love the Nationals, but I never watch it live. I've got other things to do (like ride). I try to record it for later viewing, but...
The Mid-Atlantic area has the Masters MX series. The classes start at 30+ and go up to 65. They do run an open class for the "kids" under 30. I think it's going on it's 5th year and has been growing steadily. At 52, I'm happy to do practice days at whatever speed I feel comfortable at on that particular...

lapper Added a reply to Is this right...?

10/25/2011 10:19am
He's bluffed you repeatedly trying to intimidate you and unfortunately your poker skills suck. 1. Unless the bike turns out to be stolen, the dispute of a private sale is a civil matter, not criminal. If he's a LEO he knows this. 2. If he did determine the bike was stolen, it's no longer between you and him. He is...

lapper Added a reply to Knee Braces

10/13/2011 1:32pm
Just ask your doctor. Mine had no problem writing me a prescription for knee braces during a routine physical. He copied the info right from the MX magazine add I handed him. However, be aware that a doctor's prescription does not guarantee your insurance company will pay for them. They may also require a treatment plan showing why knee braces...

lapper Added a reply to Looking for PA/NJ/DE Tracks and Trails

10/13/2011 1:06pm
Breezewood Proving Grounds has all the stuff you're looking for. The MX track may not be as good as a strictly MX facility but MX tracks don't have the trails, camping and other family activities Breezewood offers. It might be a little cold for the swimming and water slide this time of year. I haven't been for awhile. I've been...
