joemamma Added a reply to Why You Don't Ride Or Race Near Storms
6/9/2019 11:40pm FYI, rubber tires provide no protection against a lightning bolt (tens of thousands amps, tens of thousands degrees). You're "safe" (can still get injured) from lightning inside a metal, hard-top vehicle because it's a faraday cage. Same reason you're safe inside an airplane that gets struck.

joemamma Added a reply to Public Service Announcement (Outdoors)
2/11/2016 7:53pm https://lucasoilracing.tv/ Lots of devices planned; Roku and a web browser are the only ones that are completed at the moment though. I'll be signing up when the MX season roles around. The site is pretty janky though. It looks like it's just a wrapper around https://api.skychnl.net/ via iframes. I get prompted to login after changing pages or refreshing the page.

5/20/2012 7:39pm +1 for Derek.
He was as high as 12th the first moto. Not sure if he had bike problems or just petered out, but he definitely has the speed.
2nd moto he came from 30th to 19th. Even if it's just for a race or two, I'd love to see him given that opportunity.
joemamma Added a reply to Difference between good and bad helmet...
4/20/2012 4:01pm I wonder how much research has gone into using non-newtonian fluids (dilatants) in a helmet. I've always been curious if replacing a helmet's foam with a dilatant or maybe having a combo of both would provide better impact protection than we have currently. I'm too chicken to order some d3o and test it myself.
joemamma Added a reply to Stewart released from contract?
4/16/2012 3:41pm Yeah, cause everyone is the same. It's the same with food; if one person likes eggplant parmesan, everyone likes it.
More occurances of 259 would be cool methinks. Three digit is legit.

1/30/2012 9:27am It's not just IE. Doesn't work in Chrome for me.
Disabling javascript is a temporary workaround though.
Edit: Well, looks like I didn't look far enough back for an existing thread on the subject. Links are still good though. If you haven't already, please take a few minutes to read about the bill, why its a piece of garbage, and then possibly do something about it (sign Google's petition, mail/call your congressman, share on facebook, etc...). joemamma Started a new thread Old footage of Andrew Short
1/27/2012 6:12am Was browsing youtube and found this video of a local race in Colorado. The pro class racing/interviews starts around 2:45. Also in the video is Travis Riley, someone who probably would have been pretty successful in the sport had an illness not forced him to quit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLgIJ0Csekw

joemamma Started a new thread SoCal Race Turnouts
1/24/2012 7:56pm Hey guys, I'm new to racing in SoCal. I saw that there are two races this weekend. One at comp edge (golden cup) and one at racetown (golden state national). I was just curious if anyone knows (from past experience) which race will have more pros in attendance. I found some info on the golden state national race and saw...

joemamma Added a reply to Maybe headsets are not a bad idea? (red flag crash)
1/22/2012 7:26pm Sounds good in theory, but it doesn't really work. My buddy and his dad tried it. Hearing it was no issue, but the moment the dad spoke, the rider crashed. Racing a dirtbike requires far too much concentration for it to work properly.

That's not the issue. The issue is how they want to go about it. Having this bill passed would allow Big Content to shut down any site they feel like. A spam bot posts a link to infringing content in the comments of someone's blog post, Big Content now has the right to shut the site down. Big Content sees...
joemamma Added a reply to Tblazier's videos highlight how lame riding styles were in '90s
11/30/2011 6:44pm Haha, I've been watching his videos and noticed the same thing. I also noticed the "wunder-team", Art and David, is all nostalgia based. Art Eckman was just as bad/worse than any announcers we've had recently. David Bailey rocked back then just like he does now though.
