$150? My bad. I didn't realize you had it figured out. They can't afford gas to make it to East Coast races but have enough money...

Have you walked through the pits of a supercross lately? These "privateers" are strolling around in $200 jeans before the races, a fucking headset isn't going to break the bank for anybody that is racing a supercross, just my humble opinion.

As far as the east coast races go, I'd guess it's the total expense (lodging, food etc.) not just the gas cost that keeps them from the East Coast rounds. Wink

Oh yeah, $150 was a pure guess, maybe they would be $250, still wouldn't matter.
Dude you check out riders PANTS ?!?

$200 jeans now? I have no clue what you're trying to prove now. Clearly, in addition to being an electric engineer you're a CPA that understands racing budgets. Is there anything else you can try to bullshit your way through?

At that level of SX why not?
We're not talking about breaking any 60 year old tradition like you would in MX.
I say let anyone use it if they want, for both safety and strategy.

Sounds good in theory, but it doesn't really work. My buddy and his dad tried it. Hearing it was no issue, but the moment the dad spoke, the rider crashed. Racing a dirtbike requires far too much concentration for it to work properly.

Most clothes the privateers are wearing are either supplied by small sponsors or their mom. Get a clue!!!!!

Back to topic: communications were allowed at the Monster Cup and I think only one team tried it.

Who remembers Wardy using a two way radio with his mechanic back in '88 at the San Diego SX, I believe? His mechanic (Roy Turner?) would tell him where RJ was behind him and Wardy would move over every time. So RJ had to fake out Wardy, he purposely went wide three times in the same turn, the forth time he dove inside for the pass!! After the AMA outlawed radio communication Wardy came back for the next race with a rice crispies box taped to his helmet!!

If anyone here has a better version or photos, please post them!!
