I am a woods/enduro guy but have a lot of time on turbo snowmobiles (2 stroke) over the last 15 years. Unless you've got a higher compression engine that requires something special 91 non-eth should be 100% fine. If you really want to geek out on it, most higher octane fuels will give you a lazier feeling throttle response and...
Great catch. You are right, this was supposed to be on the chopping block forever ago. My $0.02 is there are literally zero buyers for a brand like felt in the market right now. They either need to fully liquidate whatever is there however they can or limp the brand along, neither of which are great options (though I know...

Thanks for that, great read. It's hard to grasp that ebikes really tanked them for some who would rather look at shiny objects like California HQ or MotoGP than at the boring financial reports. There's something I don't understand about Felt, PMG bought it in late 2021, they've been talking about selling it since the end of 2023 (sale was supposed to be completed in 2024 1st quarter) but somehow it never happened. They keep talking about selling it (for 18 months!) and now look at this July 25th statement from their preliminary results for H1 2025 : "The Husqvarna...

Very insightful analysis as to how the walls came crumbling down. Thanks for sharing.

Those interested in this thread my find my analysis somewhat worthwhile (see below). I'm a former equities analyst and a huge fan of the brand, so do your best to ignore my bias. As a trail/enduro guy, I really hope the transfer of ownership to Bajaj does not negatively impact the quality of future products, something only time will tell...

In the USA the 2017 standard models and the 2016.5 (Factory Edition) models were the first year of AER-48 forks. There are mainly just valving changes after that. The next major functional change was made for 2021 models and the forks are labeled XACT rather than AER-48. The significant change is in the pneumatic spring where the air bypasses the piston at the top of the stroke. Really, it's just a dent in the air-spring cylinder that allows some air to pass below the piston giving a softer feel from top-out through the sag point. It's an effective change and...

The AER forks are really good until you read how crap they are on the internet, or until some old dude at rhe track tells you they were so bad he threw them in the dumpster after 3 laps.

If you do in fact have an early AER 48, it is worth noting that the air spring had significantly less negative air volume than future iterations. This does make a big difference in the forces curve, especially early in the suspension's travel. Personally, I'm not so keen on tuning just to tune. I've done it a bunch of times...
Graph from Google Finance. Disclaimer: This is for sure an apples and oranges comparison given the different sizes and product mixes of each firm. But interesting to see the YTD results.

As others have said, unless you are trying to solve a very specific problem, you are likely much better off setting the air spring to the correct pressure, making sure the forks are properly serviced and working on your riding (as opposed to working on the bike). We all are quick to crack open the checkbook when really its seat...
