hellion Added a reply to 1 piece tuff blocks
1/23/2012 5:20am Someone will need to get killed first. Then the sanctioning body will act like they have some great idea and impliment one piece blocks. Really, it's a wonder we haven't had it happen already. I can't count the times I've seen guys with banners in their rear wheels. You just hope they realize it before they do go for the...

hellion Added a reply to spoke with my wallet this weekend
1/17/2012 6:16am Nice ride Yota. I've had mine since August and couldn't be happier, it's one of the best all around bikes ever. One thing though, do yourself a favor and check out the jetting forum over at KTMtalk. There is a thread on the 12' 250SX and how well it responds to the Suzuki NECJ needle. None of the stock needles...
hellion Added a reply to stripping painting carbon fiber helmet?
12/12/2011 10:23am You don't want to sand off the original paint. You just need to scuff the paint with a red scotch brite to give the surface some tooth for your paint to stick to. You want to be careful not to sand into the graphics that are already there as they are likely water based and not compatible with most paints...
hellion Added a reply to Dowdy to Husqvarna????
12/8/2011 4:57am Riding for Chaplin I would venture to guess that he will ride some off road stuff with some Husky support but be on his familiar Kawasaki for MX.
hellion Added a reply to Dunge's bike steel forks not aluminum ?
12/6/2011 5:07pm the outer tubes are aluminum as they are on all forks since the ice melted. KTM factory guys get to use forks with aluminum lowers that are 50mm and supposedly very light. Either way you'd need to be pretty astute to tell what material Dung's lowers are as the many coatings they can choose would disguise it pretty well.
hellion Added a reply to I rode my new KTM250sx and an almost new RC edition 2006 RM250 back to back this weekend.
12/5/2011 8:12am yes it is, different springs and preload as well. Very tuneable power, just keep notes as you go so you can go back if you get lost. Add gearing into the equation and you can see how many possibilities there are.
hellion Added a reply to I rode my new KTM250sx and an almost new RC edition 2006 RM250 back to back this weekend.
12/5/2011 7:49am It will work for sure. I'd lean towards the 40p and watch how lean it feels in the mid and top. You might have to go to clip 4 and a 162m, but this needle is so much better you won't believe it.
hellion Added a reply to I rode my new KTM250sx and an almost new RC edition 2006 RM250 back to back this weekend.
12/5/2011 5:23am I too have a 12' 250SX. You have to get yourself a Suzuki NECJ needle. You will not believe the difference this needle makes in how smooth the power is. I am a jetting snob, never happy until it's perfect. With any of the stock needles it was always too rich or too lean and the transition from low to...
hellion Added a reply to Calling Out Matthes
11/12/2011 6:41am C'mon guys, this is not about which bike is better. It's about having fair rules (like many clubs do now) so both two and four strokes have an equal chance. I want to see it across the board, Nationals and Supercrosses included. GNCC has allowed both two and four strokes in thier XC2 class for a couple of years and...
hellion Added a reply to Lower Footpeg Options
10/29/2011 3:01pm I'm 6'5" and run the fastways with a slighly tall seat, and bar mounts full forward with a tall bar. The goal is to be comfortable and also keep your center of gravity where the manufacturer intended for it to be. Just putting on a really tall seat you end up so high that the bike no longer handles like...
hellion Added a reply to 2 stroke nationals.
10/27/2011 11:47am You will be able to get the racers with a good purse, no problem. Spectators will not happen though. They already don't show up for the GP at Glen Helen which is a short distance from a huge population of moto fans. Unless you get Bubba, Chad, and the Ryans people just won't care.
Two strokes will come back when...
hellion Added a reply to 1991 AMA 125 500 Outdoor Motocross National from Unadilla NY is up
10/27/2011 7:14am I was at this race too, it was one of the last national I rode I think. I was a full on woods guy at this point so I even rode with a Link Drink on my chest pro. I was on an ATK 406 which was mightily underpowered but it handled really nicely. But even with those two things...
hellion Added a reply to curious how many 40 yr olds vs 50 yr olds still ride or race
10/25/2011 12:08pm I'm old enough now and have raced enough that I only really get the desire to race a couple of times a year. But, I still love to train just like I did when I raced all the time and ride at least once a week. Some moto, mostly off-road, and every other year we have a group that goes...
hellion Added a reply to Tyla Rattray?
10/25/2011 11:56am This is where a 125 class would be so good. The 250f class is a real national championship level class, with all the money and talent that is on display in the 450 class. A 125 class could give first year riders a place to grow and find their wings before jumping into one of the other classes. Rattray riding...
hellion Added a reply to Pound for Pound, who is the fastest fat man to ever race?
10/25/2011 10:40am Jo Jo Keller, Marty Tripes were both pretty heavy in the middle of their careers and super fast. A lot of other have gotten fat after their careers were over and could still haul i.e. Ron Lechein.
hellion Added a reply to Get My First 4t?
10/25/2011 4:37am I am one of the biggest two stroke advocates on here, but even I get restless and want a change once in a while. I've bought quite a few four strokes in the last ten years, but none of them have stayed around long. They are fun at first, but get boring really quickly. If you need one for racing...
hellion Added a reply to MotoGP - Marco Simoncelli (no spoiler)
10/24/2011 6:29am A tragic loss for sure. So sad for Marco and his friends and family. Also for Colin and Valentino, to be involved in the crash that takes a friends life would be tough. MotoGP really needed Marco going forward as with Edwards retiring and Rossi surely not far behind there will be a void in personality. Marco sure had a...
hellion Added a reply to Buckley's first crack at bike graphics
10/21/2011 9:04am Paul, nice job on the graphics. Cool idea using a muddied up chain link fence? as background. Plus, they look even better in photos than I thought they would from the drawings.
This thread is bringing out some old school new englanders for sure. With Digger here now things will never be the same. hahahaha.
Unrelated, but it's a shame...
hellion Added a reply to about racing 250t vs 250f...
10/20/2011 5:53am Eventually the right thing usually happens. In this case it is finally reaching critical mass and the scales are beginning to tip the way of the two stroke. Not to say that the two stroke should kill off the four stroke, just that we should be able to race either and have the choice. Not rules that make you choose...
