Anyone else hear that John Dowd is gonna be on a Husky 449 for 2012?

They'd be smart to hire him and get him racing the WORCS series and Enduro cross. Dowdy is a crowd favorite.

I agree BD. I think Dowd would make a great R&D rider as well , do some selected nationals and so forth. It would be cool seeing him back out there. he did score enough points last year to keep his #16 right?

Do they really need the seat to be all the way to the triple clamps?

Husqvarna should apologize for trying something different and new... They should stop producing 2 strokes and forget about developing FI for them too...

no one has got the 449 (ex BMW) to work that well, seems the suspension setup with the counter shaft in line with the swing arm pivot does not work that well, hope he is getting paid well,

Riding for Chaplin I would venture to guess that he will ride some off road stuff with some Husky support but be on his familiar Kawasaki for MX.

I keep waiting for the Husqvarna to transform into an autobot.

I would tend to think that too.

Let me find out.

I agree, and having the seat way up there probably helps it feel nice a roomy for someone a little taller like JD.

Would his riding professionally for Husky be some sort of record as far as no. of brands? Hasn't he ridden KTM, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kaw as a pro?

It looks so cheap it looks like a blown up picture of a toy. Im sure Dowd gets his Kawi too or anything else he wants from them.

No way in hell that bike would be raced on a motocross track and be competitive.

I will eat the frozen used moto sock that is hanging in my van if he shows up to Southwick for the NESC opener on that thing next spring.

Hopefully he works closely with Ty Davis to get the 449 to work well. I would love to see him ripping on the 144 or 250 or 300 2-stroke!!!! I give him a ton of credit and am hopeful that all goes well for both parties. Dare to be different!!!

I think it looks great, but i'd only want it for a Supermoto bike, not a MX/Offroad bike

I know I defended Husky in the Dietrich thread, but I don't see this being a happy relationship, the Husky (especially the 449) is not going to be up to snuff for what Dowd wants to do.

If he was moving to Europe for a factory ride there I would have a different opinion, but Husky support in the US sucks right now.

I was wondering how long it would take for the Vital faithful to start giving Dowd shit for riding a Husky. As usual it didn't take long!Laughing Probably a career ending move for the 60 year old Dowd huh?Blink LOL

For me it's a question of being competitive. He races to have fun and compete. This may be fun, but it will not help him compete.

National #35 on Honda in 1991. He won the Hangtown national during the great flood that year.

Man, i forgot about that.

So assuming this story has legs, that would make six brands as a pro. Anyone else done that?
