Looks fine,I used to have one of those but I ended up putting on a flat vented number plate on mine.

3/19/2019 2:45am Anyone had to mask off a 1981 YZ125 number plate and paint it? Mine was pretty scraped up, an ended up using PJ1 black paint and it turned out pretty good!

dcfitz Started a new thread 1981 YZ125 melting right number plate issue.
3/17/2019 9:27am 1981 YZ125’s have a problem with their right number plates melting from exhaust system heat. I solved the problem by adding fiberglass tape exhaust wrap to the exhaust pipe and silencer. Problem solved!

11/10/2018 9:57am I think I solved the issue. When I rode it, it felt like the steering stem was a little loose. I tightened everything up and it seems fine, now.

My first "real mx" helmet was a yellow Bell Moto III in 1982. The dealer painted it for me similar to this one Marty Smith was wearing when he was with Suzuki. I wish I had kept it!!

Barnett468, why the hate for aftermarket ignitions? I get it, many parts are made better OEM. Sometimes not. every old RM I've owned (4) I've had to replace the stator. In dcfitz situation, I probably would have done the same.

Hey, so you have a stock ignition and the bike starts and runs. With the PVL, you have to bump it to get it start. Agree with the statement that the PVL does not spark as well when initially kicking, but should be good enough to fire it up. A suggestion is to put the stock ignition on it and put a timing light on it. Not start it, but just to give you a reference point. The reinstall the PVL and compare. Adjust the PVL to match the stocker. That may allow you to kick start the bike. A...

10/28/2018 10:47am Yeah, when I used to race this bike, I had an open face red, white and blue Hondaline helmet with Scott goggles and face grill with the requisite duck tape on the visor joint. I haven’t ridden in the dirt on this 1981 YZ125 since 1985. A long time ago!
