Craigyw1984 Started a new thread Yz 125 2015
4/21/2021 2:05pm Looking for some suspension settings for my YZ125. Im 78kg without kit and was out riding today for the first time on the bike. Riding a sand track the bike didn't seem to absorb the majority of bumps and rutts. Bike seemed to want to throw me off and tank slap on long fast straights. Any advice? Cheers

3/28/2021 4:45am Guys any advice would be much appreciated. Removed my piston to inspect, size and change ring. Is this normal piston wear for a 5 hr bike? I did expect more around exhaust bridge. Clearances all check out ok.

3/28/2021 4:45am I bought the bike with 5 hrs 😕. Plated in UK by reputable company. Sized with bore gauge. The vertex specifications are somewhat larger than Yamaha, although i have been told the Yamaha specs are what i should go by. Guys built race engines for years. I can only guess the engine has done more hours

3/28/2021 4:33am Piston sized and turns out i need a D sized fitted😕. Clearances actually working out at 3.5 thou. Bike had been plated and fitted with A size at the end of 2019. Very little use and this is required already? Vertex being fitted and referring to Yamaha specs as its a cast piston.

3/26/2021 5:59am Any ideas what Vertex cylinder clearance and ring end gap should be. Everyone i have contacted says different. May just go OEM and use Yamaha specs

3/25/2021 12:29pm Took the jug off and cleaned it using scotchbrite. The mark is still there, so may possibly be cracked 😒. Im going to have machine shop size, hine and replace the piston. Found this in my expansion pipe, any ideas? Brass

3/21/2021 1:19am You buy the correct spec piston. As above my barell is 54mm and i have a selection of Vertex pistons available to fit, from A-D. All of which increase in size to suit bores. The only thing i was u sure if was the Vertex specs as Yamahas are a little different.

3/20/2021 11:52pm I believe Vertex says .010 to .020 (.25mm to .50mm) I usually shoot for .010 to.012. .002 pistons clearance is fine, considering it's a cast piston. I may run a little more for a forged.

3/20/2021 11:39am What is the correct ring gap for a 125 vertex piston. Stock piston and barrel. Do i go with 0.004" per inch of bore, manual specs or vertex specifications(if any). Piston to cylinder working out around 0.002" although manual states 0.0018". Do Vertex have their own specs.

12/6/2020 8:01am was the frame replaced on the bike. I thought yamaha used a letter for the year my 2020 is a L for the tenth digit and I do not have the asterisk on either side of my vin. Unless the vin is different for euro bikes Edit--I punched the vin into Yamaha motor Europe and it came up as a 15.

Team Ideal Liked a reply to forum topic modern 250f. Whats it cost to maintain?
12/3/2020 7:53am Anybody beside the taliban gonna give an honest answer? It really depends on what you're planning to do with it. Proper maintenance goes a long way. Take care of it and it won't cost you any more than a smoker, don't and it will definitely set you back. The last yeat my son raced a 125 he also raced a 250f. At the end of the year it there was very little difference in cost for us. BTW the guy above paying a grand for a top end rebuild is getting screwed or has absolutely no idea what he's doing.

12/3/2020 7:41am Just picked up a 2014 crf 250r, going to tear it down and redo everything i can and add some cool trick parts, titanium, and some custom machined and vapor blasted parts as i go. First things on the list are disassembly and organization and then ill probably bring the forks and rear shock to RG3 which is down the street. Ill keep this updated as i go, it might take a while as im in no rush and busy with work but well see how it goes. Thanks

12/3/2020 7:41am Have read a lot of good reviews on REP for the suspension. Also forgot to add that I had a set of Starcrosses and they worked good when fresh and lasted quite a while. They are narrower and lighter for the same size versus Dunlops. I put a set of MX33 back on not too long ago and they are better for the softer tracks I normally ride. Any plans for the cylinder/head/etc? I also ran a 300 kit for about 10 hours. Gratuitous photo:

11/12/2020 9:55pm So I have now offloaded my 02 kx125 and want to buy a newer more reliable bike to hone my skills. I now have roughly 3.5k burning a hole in my pocket for a new bike. I am a novice rider looking to hit the tracks for fun. The kx big bore was a great little bike and pulled me...

11/5/2020 9:31am What years did the 450 get smaller in frame size? I used to own a 2008 crf 450, it was heavy and tall. Looking at swapping to four stroke from two and was looking for a little advice before buying. I rode a 2019 yzf 450 today and it was amazing in every way. I have a budget of 3k...
