Piston to cylinder clearance

What is the correct ring gap for a 125 vertex piston. Stock piston and barrel. Do i go with 0.004" per inch of bore, manual specs or vertex specifications(if any). Piston to cylinder working out around 0.002" although manual states 0.0018". Do Vertex have their own specs.

I believe Vertex says .010 to .020 (.25mm to .50mm) I usually shoot for .010 to.012.

.002 pistons clearance is fine, considering it's a cast piston. I may run a little more for a forged.

Can I ask a dumb question here? How do you go about adjusting the piston to cylinder clearance?

You buy the correct spec piston. As above my barell is 54mm and i have a selection of Vertex pistons available to fit, from A-D. All of which increase in size to suit bores. The only thing i was u sure if was the Vertex specs as Yamahas are a little different.

Oh, that's right, thanks. Sorry it was late at night and my brain wasn't fully operational.
