Clarendon Started a new thread New AMA Rules
1/25/2012 10:48pm Just wondering if the new AMA amateur rules regarding 250 4 strokes and 2 strokes now in the same class has made any difference to the results of amateur races? Are there more 2 strokes in the class, are they winning? Or too early to tell. I'm in Australia and we are watching closely as there is talk of ridding...

Clarendon Added a reply to is knight the RC of woods racing?
3/31/2008 9:57pm Only seen him on the tube, but with his sheer size`and strength mixed with his ability from his trials days, he is absolutely awesome. So adaptable, one week 250 2 stroke indoors and next on a big thumper outdoors. I would love to see him ride a 500 2 stroke on an outdoors MX track. Not RC but a champ...

3/31/2008 4:05pm Some riders will go faster on a 250 2T and some will go faster on a 250 4T. Bit like some riders were quicker on 250 2T's than 500 2T's back in the day. I personally preferred 500's. Depends on riding style. A full on clutching, wide open style will suit a 2T rider and a smoother torquer will go...

3/30/2008 1:25pm I raced with John in the ROC at the '79 World Mini at Saddleback. We all raced box stock YZ80F's in 3 motos, back to back and swapped bikes each race to negate any mechanical advantage.

3/26/2008 8:15pm Hey Humyam, Do you remember a guy named Sean Kelly (i think) from Texas . He used to race aginst Jeff Ward on his JWRP CR100. I remember as a kid in Australia I used to read Mincycle Action and used to idolise guys like him and Gene Mc Kay. What happened to those guys. I had Noguchi kitted bikes...

4/16/2016 6:28pm Still waiting for that "all in" 250 MX mag shootout. I'd take the smoker over the 4T in the 250's. They are in my blood. I've seen a few shots of the amateur classes and it seems the 2T's are getting to the first turn first. Makes life a bit easier.
Clarendon Added a reply to How far back in time would a current Novice on a 08 450
3/26/2008 12:53pm I would say really early 70's. Before long travel suspension emerged 'in '73 which really changed the game. So a 70's pro on a brand new bike (of 76 to say 79 vintage ) of that era against a current novice on a natural terrain track, the pro would blow the novice away, especially if it was over 30 minutes...

3/16/2008 12:24pm Thanks, the name is Skilton, but the 1979 ROC was my last mini ride.

3/16/2008 3:26am While on the topic, has anyone got the MXA that has the World Mini GP results from '79. Had DeCoster on the front on a Suzi with Ribi forks if I remember right. I was third in the ROC behind Kehoe and Holland but have lost all my clippings on the event.

3/4/2008 12:32am I reckon a a standard 250 2 stroke put out more horsepower than a PC 4 Stroke. Am i right?

2/27/2008 5:45pm My son is 14 and he is getting his first bike shortly, he really wants to ride. I waited until now because even though I started racing at 7, I did suffer a few years of burn out when I was in my late teens. In fact 95% of the kids I raced with no longer ride bikes at all...

4/16/2016 6:15pm Sounds like it will add another competitive facet to the 250 class racing. Be interesting to see if any of the big MX mags will run a shootout between all the 250's - 2 and 4 stroke and run them head to head and give an honest appraisal rather than the "best for the average rider..." blabber.
