I eventually got the "style" thing figured out when I received my first JT catalogue.
I was relegated to jeans and work or army boots for my first few years (didn't start racing til '75), and an open-face TKX helmet for the first couple. I graduated to a full-face Bell, I believe it was called the Star 120, and I'm speculating that referred to a 120° vision field.. It came with a short snap-on visor and face shield built into the visor. I probably shared in your confusion there, blame it on On Any Sunday.

Oh yeah, I rode in Hang Ten t-shirts, just like Brad Lackey!Huh Someone ought to re-introduce that line of vintage clothing, that would be some cool ret-ro.

The friend that taught me to ride in the early '70's,used these to clean the plug every time I rode.
Real hard to keep in the powerband on those pipey bikes when just learning.

Kent Howerton had a profound effect on my gear racing my Husky CR250 GP. I dressed just like him in 77, 77. Him and Semics, I tell ya, too cool. Before 250s, raced a YZ125A-modded out to the max. Hakan Anderson was my hero then-yes, dressed like him too. All the way to painting my helmet w 2 white stripes, Jofa, Carreras & put a Swedish flag on my Hallman visor.

What a time in moto. Btw, Jeff Jennings style was a controlled Bruce Baron. Just DUG watching Jennings ride!Woohoo

I had to try them out to see if they were part of "Bimbo's" secret. The first pair were the type with the thick rubber strips on the back, mentioned previously.

Saw the GP gloves in a post. You know you can buy them again. Here is a pic of a set just picked up. All goat skin and very old school trick. Get some old old schoolers!
