ArizonaKevin Started a new thread 1993 KX125 Build

Just picked up this 1993 KX125 from my wife's brother. Plan is to restore it into a runner and give it to my wife's sister as a gift. Seems to have a few good things going for it, already has the hard to find PC pipe and stinger silencer. PC worked on the suspension back in period (although looks to...

Also had AEO rebuild the suspension. Had them keep the original pro-circuit stickers for nostalgic cool factor.

Another update, the replacement case that I bought off ebay showed up cracked as well, then got scammed by someone off facebook trying to buy another so just had the builder do what he could to salvage the original. Hopefully it doesn't leak. Got started on getting the surface rust off the pipe. Going to take a...

ArizonaKevin Started a new thread How to Tell if Gas is Mixed

9/19/2021 8:40pm
Found a 5 gallon jug of gas behind some things in my garage and I can't remember if I had mixed it or not. It is AvGas so no ethanol to go bad, I think I filled the AvGas around November of last year.

ArizonaKevin Started a new thread 1993 KX125 Countershaft Sprocket

9/17/2021 7:39am
Does anyone know what compatibility there is on KX125 countershaft sprockets? BTO Showed that the sprocket was the same 92-08 but when the renthal package showed up, it says 94-08. Pulled the oem parts schematic and the part number is the same from 92, 93, and 94 at 13144. Not sure who to believe.

Things slowed way down on this, my wife's RM locked up the beginning of the year so my time was dedicated to getting that back up and running. Then it got way too hot in the garage to continue work on the KX. Finally had time to tear into this a little more, took the bottom end and the frame...

Yeah I've gone through your build, looks great! Do you have any sort of rubber seal between expansion chamber and silencer? After I go through all the work to get this cleaned up, I don't want to blow carbon all over everything again

Try sending off an email to Keefer. I feel like he probably doesn't spend too much time in vital particularly reading about old 2 strokes. I am a nobody from AZ and sent him an email last year asking for some setup tips and he took the time to respond. Maybe he'll put something out about it.

Finally started to tear into this, the contest that Cam and others are hosting was a good motivation to get it started. Teardown has gone pretty smoothly so far I have found that there was a major sealing issue between the pipe and the silencer which has blown carbon all over the back of the cases...

Haven't been updating this as much as I should. Got springs from RG3 for my weight. Once we are due for a rebuild I will have them valve as well. Also, snagged a lectron for it, a WC perch, and some new graphics with the newer fender and number plates.

Took lectron apart and blew out every orifice I could find. Also took the VForce out and I think I found the main issue. When I would stick my finger in the cage and (gently) manually cycle the petals, there was a snot bubble of oil between the petal and the cage would almost seem to seal up the cage...

Hey everyone, had a perfect storm of my stupidity last year. Was our riding and my 06 RM250 shut off for no apparent reason. In attempting to get it back up and running, I broke the kick starter off. This started a stupidly long search to try to find another kicker. Turns out, the bike quit running because oil separated...

ArizonaKevin Started a new thread Mid-rebuild organization

6/6/2019 11:17am
How do you guys keep your parts and stuff organized mid rebuild? I usually just lay everything out on my bench so I know the order it came apart and the order it should go back together. Unfortunately, I am starting to take on multiple projects at once and don't have enough room on my bench anymore. I was thinking...

With the amount of money that some of these sprinters are going for, have you looked into a used fun mover? They are bigger overall and will get worse gas mileage, but it seems like you get a lot better bang for your buck.
