Xeno's CRF450R 1
General Info
Parts
This is my personal bike. It was built for, and raced by, Timmy Weigand at the 2010 ISDE in Mexico. He raced it five days at the ISDE, with the sixth day cancelled. The engine is mostly untouched since the ISDE except for checking the valve lash on occasion.
The engine was built by Eric Siraton at JCR, with porting by Pro Circuit. I actually had Eric de-tune the motor a bit by installing milder engine mapping.
The suspension is Pro Circuit Works Stage 3 mods. The valving is a very plush Grand Prix setting developed by JCR and Pro Circuit. It works awesome on motocross tracks, but don't over-jump anything because it's not intended for massive bomb drops off steep jumps.
The graphics kit was produced by Throttle Jockey and is based on one of their stock designs with logos added to my specification. It's intended to advertise my retail business with Johnny Campbell- www.jcrspeedshop.com. Throttle Jockey also supplied the gripper seat cover, which I really like. It seems to keep me planted on the bike better.
The stock wheels are enhanced with red hubs finished by Coast Powder Coating. I laced the hubs with OEM spokes and D.I.D. Dirt Star rims.
Another highlight on this bike is the clutch setup: A full Hinson clutch system paired with a Work Connection Elite clutch perch and lever. It's a very smooth and light clutch action with these components.
Overall, it's a very easy bike to ride. Almost too easy! The handling is real neutral and the power is so broad that I sometimes just put it in third gear and ride the outsides of all the turns- I won't shift the entire lap.
I shot the photos of this bike with a Canon 7d at the luxurious www.echodesignllc.com studios in San Clemente, CA. March 2013.
Cheers,
Xeno
