This could piss some off, and the season is not over yet, but I think this is in the air already?
During the interview with Nerd, prior to the SLC seemed he was "considering" doing the Nats, but wasn't sure, and some (me including) speculated that if he doesn't win the SX he might be "forced" to do the outdoors? I don't know any of the many deals he has, but seems everything is based on him being the fastest etc, and for sure winning "soon", pretty much hype around him. I was totally convinced he would dominate this season.
But now I personally doubt his present and future performance, what just happened? Really seems he's unable to make it work. He's probably the most skilled rider there still, but his inability to be part or build a winning team is making him look "mediocre"? Maybe he's still having the gloom making Answer etc paying the same check next year, but really? What will there marketing angle be that makes him worth more or as much as the winner of the SX?
This is just an opinion, but comparing Stewart on a KX125 toying with Reed on a 250F to the Stewart we see today makes me feel he has lost it?
Dunno about you, but for people that share my view I think he needs to do the outdoors and beat everybody to win us back, I mean if the fans are important!
Honestly I kind of wanted this happening because at the end of the day I love to see him ride and if that means he have to loose the SX title I'm ok with that.

No, I don't think James will race the outdoors. His team is SX only. He has said they will do the first four nationals, which I believe is unlikely. I could see the team doing selected nationals to be eligible for the MXdN, but, that's it. jmo

What I am curious about is if he will still be able to command top dollar to race SX only after not winning 2 years in a row and with much more competition on the rise. He has been making far more money reportedly than anyone else and I wonder if that will continue or if the market has leveled out for him.
From last nights Pulp show it sounds like what Steve and Kenny are hearing that is it a no go for the nationals. If he was racing nationals I think he may have spent time testing for them instead of going to the Bahamas with his family during the SX break as has been reported.
James just does not have the field covered well enough to do that any more... but then again, maybe winning championships is no longer his primary goal. If his heart is still "in it to win it", he should find a way to race this summer.

does huge sponsors have put all their eggs on stuwarts basket......not doing mx is not a big deal if you are winning sx and specially if you are the fastest man on the planet..!!!!!!
the thing is when you dont win........last year was due to injury, but this year there are no excuses.......
so it makes 2 years without titles......most of all the loss of the fmotp one....!!!!!!!
so i think yamaha, redbull and answer could be looking to cut their loses by downsizing stuwarts check and getting someone else to get them a few wins.......they will see 3 more ama champions without their colors......and redbull has their onw ktm team in the states now........
so i think either stuwart milks the rest that cow has to give and hangs the boots.......or he should be thinking hard what to do to keep his sponsors on his bandwagon.....
get real doc, sheesh
The sponsors I'm pretty sure are primarily interested in exposure over championships, and they got it. whether he won of finishes where he is now in the standings.
I want to see more of Stewart on the track as anyone, but the notion that the sponsors are going to make him ride the nationals because of his supercross results, on his own dime or not, is delusional.
Supercross only DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE! Too many fast riders riding year round. Look at some of these guys racing today and look for the common factor. Canard, Short,Alessi, RV, Dungey and others but especially this year Chad Reed. They all have passion for the sport. Reed started this year putting up his own money to start his own team. Passion. Look at someone like Canard. The guy always has a smile (except when he shoved Dungey LOL). He loves what he is doing. Passion. I think Stewart has lost this. It's a shame with his talent but I don't see him winning another championship staying with his Supercross only strategy. I know some will think I'm full of crap about him not winning another championship but that's my opinion.

The "forced" thing was intended as if he needed to boost his stock for the coming season negotiations or depending how his contract looks the present.
