Pourcel Signs!

Los Angeles, CA – MotoConcepts Racing is pleased to announce the signing of Christophe Pourcel to contest the 2011 AMA Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship aboard a Yamaha YZ450F.

Pourcel is coming back from a shoulder injury sustained at the final race of the season last year and underwent surgery and extensive physical rehabilitation to make a complete recovery. The extended time off has greatly benefitted the 22 year old and is allowing him to come into the motocross season in top condition and feeling well prepared. Pourcel commented “The end of the season last year was disappointing but I’m very excited to make a brand new start in the motocross season with a new team, a new motorcycle and some good people behind me. It’s going to be interesting to see what we can accomplish together.”

MotoConcepts Racing Team Owner Mike Genova had this to say about making the highly anticipated signing: “We, at MotoConcepts, are excited to bring a rider of Christophe’s caliber to our program. We are confident with his talent and his history of winning coupled with our experienced staff. MotoConcepts will a very competitive force in the 450 Motocross class this summer.”

About Christophe Pourcel:

Christophe Pourcel grew up in a motocross family in France and began riding at the age of five. He went on to become an accomplished amateur racer and turned professional at the age of 15.

In 2006 Pourcel became the 3rd youngest FIM Motocross World Champion in history at 18 years of age by winning the MX2 Class Championship. His debut in AMA Supercross Lites racing in 2007 resulted in a 2nd place finish in his first race and a win in his second race in Phoenix before returning to Europe for another year of FIM MXGP competition. After suffering a catastrophic injury in August of 2007 during his MX2 title defense, he was forced to miss the 2008 season. He returned to competition in 2009 in the AMA Supercross Lites class and won his first race back and went on to claim the AMA Supercross Lites East Championship and successfully defended that title in 2010.

Born: August 16th, 1988 Marseille, France

Huh? Mitch was helping the guy with a bike for the time being because he obviously believes in him. There were never any talks about real negotiations to ride a PC 450.

The cool part is we've only got to wait a few weeks to see how this unfolds! Wonder if he is tempted to race the GP for prep..

Congrats DV. Awesome for Motoconcepts to step up and for you to get it done when plenty of others couldn't. Must be a sign of a good team manager....its great for the outdoor series obviously as Pourcel is a stud and the racing will be the best in years if everyone makes it though Vegas. Great work.

And, I thought CP handled his loss to Canard as well as anyone possibly could, so for those that call him arrogant, it is ignorant. He was gracious, so get stuffed. If we are all fans of MX, this adds to the mix as well as anyone possibly could.

Now all that's needed is Soubeyras. It would be awesome on the 2-stroke, but we'll take him on a 4-stroke too.

Great Job David! CP is gonna be a fun one to watch this summer. I think some people forget how fast that guy can go on a dirt scooter.
