While surfing through Pulpmx and looking at some old Buckley photos, you can clearly see almost everyone wearing kidney belts. I grew up wearing them so I still ride with one but how many of today's top Pro's wear them and or why don't they wear them?

There was a rider who wore a women's girdle instead of a kidney belt. His riding buddy saw it and asked him; 'when did you start wearing that?' He said: 'right after the wife found it in the glove box.'

My buddy wears one. He's the only person at the track that does. Younger guys are probably wondering what the heck it is.

My pops still wears one, but I think thats more to fight the dunlop syndrome. You know, where youve dunlopped over your belt...

I also had some explaining to do when I started taking sanitary towels to the races (which I used inside my helmet to soak up the sweat).

I used to wear one when I first started riding. After a few years, I tried riding without one and was more comfortable with out it.

I wear one for the lower back support.

My core is incredibly out of shape, and after 100 miles of desert whoops my lower back hates me! The kidney belt helps enough that I ride with it.

Still wear one but mainly for the impact protection on the lower back. MSR system six have a lot of plastic on the spine area. Even went as far as using the stretch material off one to repair the MSR.

I've started to were one again and it not only helps my lower back from getting tired but it kind of reminds me to use better body position and not slouch as much...keeps me up off the seat more and standing holding the bike with my knees. Seems like it's a little safer to have a little support and protection back there?
