My question to James would be why did he have Red/Blue lights in the first place?

Those "douche" cops may be recognized later in life as the men responsible for taking out a nut job wanting to shoot up a shopping mall while browsing off duty. Some of you clowns are a fucking disgrace. They're doing their duty whether on or off duty. James fucked up while messing around. That's that.

You guys are un fucking believable. What part of "felony" don't you understand? The law was there long before JS decided to act like a douche but you guys come off like it's the cops fault. The act of using red/blue lights is a felony because less scrupulous types use this very technique to pull innocent people over and rob or rape them. How are these officers to know what the motive was of the occupants of the truck? Since they weren't threatened by the presence of the occupants of the truck, should they have just let them continue on to possibly commit a crime against some innocent folks? And what makes you automatically think the cops were doing something wrong? From what the officer said, it sounds like they passed JS truck and then for some reason, ego maybe, JS decided to pull in behind the troopers car and try to slow them down. So what were the cops doing wrong here? Were you there? Do you have a crystal ball that allows you to see things?

You dicks are shooting off your mouths about shit you've done that was way worse but you got away with it, like it was something to be proud of. Amazing!! You also quack about how you hate cops because you got caught doing something illegal. It's illegal and you got caught. Who's fucking fault is that? Your's dumbass. You hate cops because you're a dumbass? Get over yourself. If you break the law, you deserve everything you get, and probably more.

Over blown? I think the police are actually downplaying the incident. The media, not so much.

I totally agree. One thing if he tried to harm someone. This is a "crime" without a victim. What's the big deal really?
It just shows he's a young men with sense of humour and not the best judgement.

x3 Maybe its just a European thing. But then our cops are rarely concerned with potential firearm threats (though its not uncommon) so perhaps this kind of thing is viewed differently.

If I was James I'd be more concerned with the multiple accusations and sensationalist crap going on in here than any slap on the wrist he may get from the cops.

So he chose the WRONG occupants to play a silly prank on, everyone here knows his motive was harmless. All humans - especially young guys make the wrong judgment calls/mistakes now and then, even top sports stars.

He messed up... harmlessly. Big fucking deal!

In one of the other videos it says Rado yelled at them to slow down and that's when the cops pulled their badge out. Dumb thing to do no matter what!
Not gonna explain the whole story, but talked to malcolm tonight. He explained the whole thing and to sum it up ^this guy^ is pretty accurate. It was not a smart thing either way, but it was also not accurately reported initially and sounded worse than what really happened.

Wow, i'm surprised that anyone would think his actions are OK. I guess since god blessed him with some talent he is allowed to do as he pleases? Any of us "regular" people would be in deep s*** if we did the same thing. You will figure out how big of a deal it is when it happens to you, and the guy carjacks you. Idiots.
No shit, huh? I would think that almost everyone would be talking about how stupid this was, not blaming the cops or saying it is no big deal.

I read one guy saying that he teaches his daughter how to tell if it is really a cop or not. How do you do that with red and blue flashing lights? It is questionable if it is a lifted to the moon Tundra, but is anyone still NOT going to stop because of that? My feeling is that this should be a very serious crime as this tactic is being used in the most heinous crimes imaginable. To hear how many people on here do it or have done it is mind-boggling. Maybe the rest of society knows the MX community better than I thought I did.

With each passing day it just comes to the surface how truly doomed our species is.

The way it was originally reported made me think he was just blitzing traffic with the lights, not trying to pull anyone over.

Malcolm was there by the way? You think James is sitting there telling his family EXACTLY what happened? By the time he is done with HIS version, they'll be trying to sue the cops for the potential damage this has done to his career. Maybe the cops planted the lights in the truck when they pulled them over? Hmmmmm.......

.....Maybe Mark Furman was in town?

Could you point out a link or anything that says JS was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude? I sure haven't seen one.

That propaganda vid with the truck makes it sound much different than the 911 call, watching that would make it seem like he'll be charged with fleeing but the cock in the 911 call even said "he's just driving in front of us now"

As pointed out, that badge could have been anything, from anywhere. I have an officer friend that once flashed his to get into college game out of town, everything was fine until he whipped it out in the face of some drunk in the crowd, that just happened to have his own from that jurisdiction. It's not like he ran, let alone ran from a marked car.

They didn't think he was a cop with his light so why would a badge be any more meaningful.

You guys just dont get it do you? What JS did may not have resulted in anything happening to innocent people, but some unscrupulous types are using the very same type of lights to carjack, rob and rape innocent people. It IS happening and it's a serious problem. Whats so hard to understand when the police get upset and make a big deal about it?

When this happened there wasn't too many defending James, it sounded like he was in a hurry and lighting people to get through traffic, and maybe even trying to pull people over.

People don't like abuse of power, whether it's because you're rich or have a badge.

I think he gets some sympathy now because it seems there may have been some embellishment of the story by the police.

You can't compare the 911 call with that video and the FHP spokewoman and not wonder where the hell they got that version of events. I assume what she described would have had to come from the off duty cops that were involved, but that doesn't sound like what they described.

Despite his true intention It sounds like they want to hold James to the letter of the law, but not the cop that was possibly committing traffic vilolations before he became involved in official police business with James.

James was wrong but apart from that, a lot of the sentiment about the cops involved may be because it appears that on some level we had a rich guy with a sense of entitlement and a guy with a badge and a sense of entitlement having some sort of confrontation that lead to this.

Wow. Just where do you find any evidence of police wrong doing? I've read everything I can, watched every video I can and I can't for the life of me find anything even slightly resembling police wrong doing. Sure, if I IMAGINE certain scenarios I can find problems, but it's just my imagination fabricating different scenarios.

Big difference from putting together all the available data and forming an opinion based on the evidence and facts available.

Since the police are sensitive about this crime, I hope they don't use James' high profile and make his case an example.

Not necessarily police wrong doing but I think we'll find the actual facts are much different than what they presented the facts to be in that video, and it sounds like it from the 911 call.

I'm guessing but I doubt he wanted to pull over and conduct a traffic stop, cops didn't know that but what they did know is he wasn't fleeing like the spokeswoman reported, cop said "he decided to keep driving" and "he's just driving in front of us now" And who would pull right over for a badge in a Silverado?

It doesn't sound like he just happend along and targeted them like FHP alleges on tv, I understand dipped in behind us after I passed him but what does "he came up behind us, because I went to go pass him" mean?

I suppose what I'm getting at is some of us are not so much trying to justify what he done, but we're a little put off over how these officers at least appear to be spinning this into something different than what it was, not to diminish what it was.

Does it sound to you that the story in the FHP video is what happened? If something happened between the two (road rage?) shouldn't that be a part of FHP version of events? What they omitted changes the perspective of the video, at least to where James doesn't sound like he's a lunatic, rapist or murderer.

I think it's reasonable to assume they know he's not what they're making him out to be.

It's prob safe to assume a millionaire mx'r doesn't have time to shake someone down in a fake traffic stop on the way to the airport, also prob assume off duty cops may drive just like they do while on duty, but never would admit to any wrong doing.
Actually, maybe I should say it's not too much of a stretch to assume an off duty cop would be less worried about driving in a way that may incite an altercation than the rest of us would be.

While you do make some good points, some of which I agree with and never denied, you still keep assuming things without having any evidence of such. Non of the officers accused James of being a rapist, a murder, a child molester etc etc, but you keep saying they are making him out to be something he's not. What are they making him out to be?

And road rage??? Where did you pull that one from? Both of the officers I could hear on the phone seemed calm enough and it didn't sound like James was trying to flee at a high rate of speed. It's statements like that that people read, then repeat as fact that cause these types of things to spin out of control, just like this one is preparing to do.

He isn't being charged with fleeing according to what the state is charging him with (just impersonation).
In all honesty,if he would have stopped and talked with the off-duty guys and said who he was, perhaps they would have laughed or even been shocked at who he was and been like are you nuts? Maybe even given him a good scare and once the on duty cops showed up,they possibly could have cut him a break after speaking with the off-duty guys.
Immediate cooperation can go a long way, whether it is an off duty cop or on duty .
Keeping driving & hiding the lights in luggage didn't help him any,in fact it got Rado charged with 2nd degree felony, worse then James charge (3rd degree).

I think the road rage comes from Rado yelling at the off duty cops to slow down, which is also a dumb thing to do. And the other guy in this thread who spoke to Malcolm said it sounded like they were angry with how the cops were driving.

It just shows he's a young men with sense of humour and not the best judgement.

To be old and wise you must be young and stupid first, most of us have done worse than this. I know I have.
I think the reaction is more interesting than the "crime" itself. Stew makes people jumpy in all directions. Dunno if it's race related or whatever, just that people are either on or off towards him is silly. He's just a kid that once in a while fucks up, both on and off track. And as both we have mentioned, we have done worse than this and got away with it....

Bunch of slack jawed pussies in here. This shit happens all day long in Puerto Rico, no one gives a fuck, everyone and there mother uses lights and sirens to get through traffic. This is just another case of off duty cops thinking they're above the law on the road, speeding and driving like morons. James punked them and they knew it, and they were desperate to have some sort of redemption. Typical passive aggressive brown noser personality that usually signs up to be a pig in the first place. All of the sudden they uphold the law like it's gospel, when it is someone other than THEM who is braking it.
