Reed is the best SX rider of 08. Congrats to him and his team. He showed it all season, and proved it tonight.

Why would Reed have to prove himself outdoors to be the Supercross champ? Does that mean that to prove himself outdoors, he has to be the GNCC champ?

Outdoors isn't all that and as far as what is tougher for most people find sx tracks are tougher to ride than an outdoor tracks, add in the deep ruts on the triples and sx stacks up as a tough event.

Reed really won it the day Stewart dropped out. Good for him - he took care of business. And luckily he's in a sport where people aren't excluded from participation due to a malignant personality. He's not now, nor has he ever been, the "toughest on a dirt bike". He's the second best supercross rider in the world, the best one dropped out and he won. But overall supercross is a pussy sport compared to motocross - and Chad doesn't DO motocross.

Chad is a supercross specialist who's won two titles and his main competition was out both times. When his main competition was in there, he won some races but never really was a favorite to win a title. He won (I think) one national in 5 years. He's a great rider, but he's not even in the same league as the "toughest on a dirt bike". As far as his personality goes, his constant derating of his competitors and whining about his bike, along with the fact that his name ALWAYS comes up as a guy people don't want to work with in those anonymous rider/mechanic surveys that occasionally come out in mags - I really tried to like the guy, and for a long time he was my son's favorite rider, but I've just come to the conclusion that he's an asshole. From his first controversial statement that he's "too good" for the 125 class when he got here (untrue, considering Bubba handled him easily) to his latest annoyance that Short had the audacity to actually try to beat him for a position, he's been an asshole.

Again, he's a great rider. Not the greatest, not the toughest, not anything -est.

Which kind of proves the haters' point, doesn't it? He won't go out there even when he's a favorite for a title. It's beneath him, he's already made his money, he says the tracks suck, the pits suck, the fans suck, the heat sucks, the dust sucks, the mud sucks, it sucks that you can't get to the airport fast enough, it sucks that you have to be at the track for two whole days and besides that, after 17 races he's ready to take the rest of the year off.

OK, fine. But he shouldn't be surprised that people don't kiss up to him with that kind of attitude. You know, Chad should go back to Europe and go for a GP title. Fewer races, easier schedule, the fans don't get so riled up about a prima donna, and he could win in a walk. Probably less money, though.

The difference is James beat RC in most of the races they did together and only lost the 2006 title because of ONE too many mistakes. James out rode RC in 06...... and in 07 RC had no chance againt James.

REED on the other hand............. I have never seen Reed beat James Stewart EVER!! not even one race!! and I am not talking about a race when either or both James and RC went down in.......... heads up race...... good points R-acer and WhKnuckle, I used to get all riled about the negative Reed stuff, but after this year of listening to Reed's interviews/podiums I was like hmm these guys may have a point

The guy can ride no doubt about it and he defiantly made this an exciting year.
