I can see where some people who work for someone else or a government job might be a little detached or not see it from my view, or may not feel any need to support local businesses, but that is where your hard earned money comes from as well.
Internet shopping is super convenient, and at times can save a good chunk of change. Sometimes that's the only place you can find what you need. I do a good bit of it myself, but I always at least try to spend as much as possible locally.
