Considering how different Type H is for manufacturing, testing, and how it gets mixed and pumped downhole I can allow this.

Not quite the same as a regular Portland cement concrete mix!

My mom use to sing this song to me when I was a little kid, and your thread reminded me of that.  So thanks to you for that.

Cement Mixer! Put-ti, Put-ti
Cement Mixer! Put-ti, Put-ti
Cement Mixer! Put-ti, Put-ti
A puddle o'vooty, puddle o'gooty, puddle o'scooty
Cement Mixer! Put-ti, Put-ti
Cement Mixer! Put-ti, Put-ti
Cement Mixer! Put-ti, Put-ti
A puddle o'veet! concrete
First you get some gravel, Pour it in the vout
To mix a mess o' mortar you add cement and water
See the mellow roony come out, slurp, slurp, slurp
Cement Mixer! Put-ti, Put-ti
Cement Mixer! Put-ti, Put-ti
Cement Mixer! Put-ti, Put-ti
Who wants a bucket of cement?

Agee 100%. Just wanted to mess with you construction guys a bit.  However, we did pump regular Portland cement (pseudo Class A) at very shallow depths without sand/gravel.  Carry on.

Portland Cement is about the only worthy contribution to modern society Portland ever contributed. Been all downhill from there 😉

I hate when people say they built this or that when in reality they "rebuilt" something or changed some parts.

To the experts, after adding aggregate, at what point does it transition. What percent of aggregate is required for it to become concrete?

While we're at it, its an engine, not a motor.

It’s actually not the aggregate that is important for it to cease being cement. It’s water that changes its properties.

I hate it even more when they say they built something but in reality paid a professional to do it for them. Nothing wrong with paying a pro for quality work but don't claim you turned the wrench or swung the hammer yourself.

Didn't even think about it, but yes I agree.

This is kind of reminding me of the George Carlin skit about what we have in common. “It’s not a near miss, it’s a near hit. A near miss is a collision!”

It's called a CMU (concrete masonry unite) not "a cinder block"

True coal-ash cinder blocks were phased out around 1947 (nearly 80 years ago), transitioning into modern Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) blocks made with Portland cement, sand, and gravel during the post-World War II building boom of the 1950s

People who want new "rims" on their car. The "rim" is one part of a WHEEL, FFS.

But did you know that only a few years ago did they figure out why the Roman's concrete was so much better than our current concrete?

"lime clasts" Created by using quicklime that causes the concrete to cure at high temperatures, which created a self healing concrete.

There, useless information that will not get you any pussy at the next party if you bring it up. 🤣

I did know that .

We have 2 Roman roads that cross 2 miles from my house, razz down them both on the way home from work sometimes.

Commercial HVAC:

If it makes the decision to call for cooling/heating it's a thermostat.

If it's just a temperature sensor, or assorted sensors, it's called a zone sensor.

On a belt driven fan, the "pulley" is the whole assembly. The individual wheel is called a sheave.

Technically, they're twist drills.

As opposed to, paddle, forstner, auger, or masonry. 😉

This is a fact. Named for their manufacturing process of twisting the drill after the flutes are cut.

I just didn't want anyone's head to explode.

This makes me laugh. Bout 40 year ago this was a heated debate on one of the jobs I was on. You are correct Sir.💯

Ask for a "drill bit" at an aircrafting shop and prepare for a long day of ridicule.

But if someone asks you if you ride a motorcycle but does not specify what type, do they also get ridiculed?

Because to be fair, if you don't specify, the most common being twist drill is just a given. If you need something different, you'd specify.

And to take it even further, it's a two fluted twist drill.

Used to see three fluted drills long ago when I worked in a machine shop.

Definitely not a drill you see at your local hardware store.

It's the specificity that exposes you.

"I need a #7 drill bit". Instant loss of aircrafter card.

Well, I'd say I'd love having you maintain my aircraft due to your attention to detail. But I'd find it very challenging to work side by side with you as that's too nit picky. What other kind of drill bit would I want if I need to drill a hole that I'm going to run a 1/4-20 tap through? I spend my whole day articulating detail vs getting anything done. 🤣

If I ask someone for a drill at work ,they will immediately ask what size . We all know what they're asking for.
