Hondas are very reliable. If there is a widespread issue with the starters, they’ll take care of it. It’s the same starter they’ve been using since 2018, maybe the company that manufactures the starter made a mistake on a batch. Who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️. I’ve only seen 1 so far out of hundreds that are claiming the starter is bad. But, some people could tear up an anvil 😂

Did the handlebar mounts have recalls on the 27's like someone claimed a while back?

Not sure, the bar mounts have been the same for 10 years. I would say they had batches already produced, so it’s a possibility. I received the letter about it and it was only certain batch numbers. Mine wasn’t apart of those batches. Not sure what the problem was anyway

More than came this month is all I know, but still not huge amounts. Europe got a lot more and the USA got the majority but there are manufacturing problems in Japan on some components. If you haven’t put a deposit on one I would try to as it could be March before you see any free stock floating around

I put a deposit on one 3 weeks ago for Banks Honda. The only problem is I don’t have a bike now and if it’s going to be March I’m pretty much screwed as I’m meant to be racing in February

I know exactly how you feel as I’m in exactly the same boat, but I do know they’re trying to make it happen faster. It has happened before with Honda, I can’t remember what year it was they had an ECU shortage? There’s been a few issues over the years, but they will sort it and I would say the timeline is worst case so nobody gets let down again.

Honda dropping 9lbs, 5 of these pounds are from the motor.  I smell engine reliability issues just like with the  "reliable Yamaha"  when the YZ dropped 5lbs from the engine.

Might have to wait a long time for one of them, first 2 at my dealer are already spoken for. Said he should have standard model available in December. Or if I want ktm factory edition get my name on one now, will no more about timing towards end of the year. It's a bloody hard choice 🤦‍♂️

Our first one has shipped, along with a 250RWE.

1st and 2nd 450RWE are spoken for, possibly 3rd if we get that many.

I have only read about one starter issue and it turned out to be the auto decompression on the cam wasn't working. Sounds like just a fluke that can and will happen to any brand.

I think the KTMs will be announced with the next week or so from what i heard. I Know its a new frame and some pretty big updates and the rumor is some form of Electric valving in the suspension.

Herlings reportedly had to go into coast mode later in a few races to conserve the bike after having a few DNFs. Admittedly, he could break a steel ball in a rubber room, but that does seem a lot of metal to shave out of the part under most stress.

So, let’s hear everyone’s prep and break in procedure.

I am going to put in a twin air filter, freshly oiled. Clean the chain. Check sag. Take note of the factory oil level in the sight glass, check the coolant. Dunlop scoop tire. Sunoco 94 (got burned by T4 last year…).

Ride a sand turn track by me.

20 minute moto, pretty easy, warm up laps
20 minute moto, medium, trying to go fast, without a ton of throttle
20 minute moto, all out, but not being insane on the limiter

I used to check my spokes at the track, but I think I am just going to wait to get home, wash the bike, and tighten them without dirt in the threads.
