My highly opinionated self thinks that's the best 2T ever made.
Chassis was great, bullet proof motor and with some cylinder work ran awesome!
Intake was a big issue for them. I opened up the intakes on them and 125s and it fixed jetting issues and power issues. The neck of the intake was just too skinny. When I built my 125 into a 150 on e85. It was one of the funnest bikes ever and would hit ruts without wanting to walk out. Loved those year CRs.
I'd love to have that bike. Wonder what it will bring? I'm sure some wealthy collector will way overpay for it.

No m.s.o or real paperwork!?
There’s a 125, too.
Who cares lol. so you can title your dirtbike? Why do these even get titles? Do you get a title with your riding mower? Or your 10k e- mtn bike?
Proper proof of legal ownership is kind of important. LOL
That’s a wild price. Faded fork guards and all.
I bought OEM replacements and they were the same color. The aftermarket ones where a real white.
Pretty crazy that an '02 would bring that price. I could see it with this '07 being a better bike and last year made. I wouldn't be surprised if this one hits $30k
I have a new, never ridden '07 in my little collection that I'll occasionally display at a SX. I've had a few different graphics sets made for it as a "tribute," including Rick Johnson and David Bailey sets. Might be time to pass it on...
It's amazing what a few tweaks, meaning all new cases, cylinder, ignition, and forks, did for that bike. I was really disappointed in my 04, raced my 05 until 2011. I even replaced my 2018 TC250 with an 06.
02-07 nominally different. 05+ def better, but not by a lot. i think anyone buying this bike will either not be riding it/dont care, or will go through it and make it a total beast of a mod bike. wont be a money issue.
We had a 2 crated 2007 CR125 when I started at my first dealership in 2008. I believe we finally sold both of them in like 2010.
I remember going to a dealership in 2010 that had 3 CR125s for huge discounts.
Unfortunately, I was busy taking out loans for college at the time 🤦♂️
Pit Row
yep.
i paid $5k otd, for my '06, in late '07. there were a ton of them avail/not moving then.
I would love to own that
I never understood these crates selling for so much. You're paying for a snow globe. You'll never put it on the dirt. Would you even remove it from the crate? Isn't that the entire point? Keeping it as pristine virgin as possible?
I think if you had a museum or shop you could display it. I guess I wish I had that kind of disposable money to spend.
you could do whatever you want. collector? display it in your house/shop/business. want to ride? ride it, its 40% more than a new 450. i doubt someone throwing $20k at a bike is worried about the extra 7k over a new modern bike.
My question is, how much work needs to be done to have a running bike that's actually like new? Are we talking splitting the cases and replacing every gasket and most rubber seals on the bike?
Surely you can't just change the fluids and go racing?
I would. I’ve fired up cars that we dug out of the weeds that sat for 40 years and were 25 years old when parked. And they fire up more than you’d believe with a fresh battery, and a splash of gas.
07 ain’t that long.
i wouldn't be worried about it. if anything, i'd be more concerned about rubber/plastic on the outside that was expose to air/sun. and with it being a 2t, worse case scenario really can't be that bad.
So are bikes like these "lost" and then found one day?
Or was someone intentionally holding onto it?
Whoever buys this will likely stick it in storage for another 20 years and then sell it for twice what they paid. Or assemble it and just put it on display. I doubt you'd be upside down either way. At that point you'd have one of the last remaining never started 2007 CR 250's.
This would be one to leave in the crate and let it go another 10 or so years as an investment.
Someone sent me a pm asking what I modded on intake. I would enlarge the boot and block. Ideally, I always wished I could have gotten a bigger rubber intake or even a radvalve old-school type. But I did what I had to given what I had to work with. This was an 03 125 I think. I did so many, can't remember. Not pretty, because I nevevr could grind rubber very well.
