They've developed the ultimate fuck the customer tool. They also track you by login and will adjust price according to your zip code and past online purchases with their algorithm.

Dynamic Pricing: Ticketmaster utilizes demand-based pricing models that adjust ticket prices in real time as inventory shrinks and buyer interest rises,

capturing revenue that would otherwise go to secondary resellers.

  • Deceptive "Bait-and-Switch" Pricing: Ticketmaster and Live Nation were accused of advertising artificially low base ticket prices while hiding mandatory service, processing, and facility fees until the final checkout screen.

  • Collusion with Ticket Brokers: The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and state attorneys general alleged that Ticketmaster publicly claimed to enforce strict ticket-purchase limits per fan while privately working with high-volume scalpers and brokers.

  • Secondary Market Profiteering:

Brokers used multiple fake accounts to hoard millions of primary tickets and relisted them at massive markups on Ticketmaster’s own secondary resale platform, where Ticketmaster collected fees on both ends.

I would still go to A1 either way. I'd have to say that I've been to at least 30 of them, if not more, and have always bought our tickets at the stadium box office during the week.

Other than that, it's Peacock and Round Table Pizza for me.

All that stuff that you listed is one of the reasons I got off the wagon of thinking I would die if I didn't go.  They jumped the shark with me in reference to pricing after sitting in my car for 2-3 hours trying to get out of the parking lot @ Pala.

I can definitely understand wanting to experience the races in person.  I'm sure I haven't been to my last race in person, I'm just a little more discerning with my cash these days.

I completely understand, not driving right now, and for the last 4 months means I don't have a job and its hard not having a job, but I am doing the best I can with my money even if that means not spending more for myself than subscriptions I have. The tickets for A2 are an early Christmas gift from my dad.

Why is the service fee $20?

Only because they think $21 might kill the deal and you stay home and peacock.

Id rather watch and experience a race in person because I can see everything on track pretty much, and there's nothing like a race in person.

Yes, but how well can you see other areas that are not close to your seat? Not that well..

Depending on how high up your seated, you can see a lot, usually i stick to the higher the better rule. In the 400’s this year I was able to see pretty much the whole track, and I was able to see the riders fine.

Heck yeah man!  Enjoy those tickets from your dad!

Thank you, and we for sure will. Gonna be sad not seeing Eli there. I'm excited to see and feel the differences between a1 and a2 with the guys starting to get a sense of where they are in the series, and stuff like that.

Right. A decent seat will let you see the entire track, so if you want to follow Johnny 3-digit all night, you can.

Our OU vs Texas tickets were $800 each and that was a year in advance.

Remember how everyone kept saying we need to “grow the sport?” Well, the sport is growing and this is what unfortunately happens. We are still peanuts compared to NFL prices.

For the hell if it, I looked up lions tickets for a random game during the season. I believe the cheapest ticket I found in my short search was $250 and not good seats. Yet those stadiums are filled every weekend.

$160 for SX is a lot, but if you truly love the sport as much as you preach, you’d spend the money for one night out of the year. Im sure it costs $60-$70 to spin a couple laps at a track in socal.

I'd rather pay for 3 MX practices than 1 SX ticket.

Same but different. Just like going to Vegas now. 25 bucks US for a martini or an 8 ounce glass of wine. I'm not hurting for money either but fuck that just out of principal.

This shit can't continue.  Out of principle I'm not paying twice as much for tickets as I did a few years ago.  I can't be the only one that has had enough of this insanity.

I'm happy you're complaining about it and also not paying it. I hate when people complain about it and also pay it....because that's supporting the pricing. Speaking mostly to elective things, because some things you don't have much of a choice.

For me, a big part of "not hurting for money" is to skip Vegas all together.  That place is "straight up larceny"!

Couldn't agree more but it really sucks when it's your favorite place to go. I go from Canada down there in the past three or four times a year. Now it's just such a horrific rip off that I just can't enjoy it. It sucks.

South Lake Tahoe? It's got Casinos and it's a helluva nice area to just hang out.

Vegas is just not as cool as it was, to me, years ago.

And, as you guys are saying, it's literally RIDICUOUS when it comes to the cost of going there.

Not sure if it is a phase of life kind of thing, but as my kids have grown into adults and my friends have retired in other areas, the social aspect of going to SX is gone for me. The cost matters more now because the cost is higher and the value (social, friends) is lower. Still love to hear the "braap" walking into the stadium for practice, but it's just not worth it.

The "Have to be there in person" phase has left my building. But I am old enough to remember Tread Head Seats. Seems like it was general admission and top deck. Not optimal, but you could always migrate once the first gate dropped.  Today's prices all seem steep to me, but then again I am cheap. We can all enjoy the racing as we choose. If it ever gets here again!

Vegas really has gone downhill. Streets are dirty, tweakers and drunks everywhere, and price gouging worse than Disneyland. No thanks.
