Why they gots to put three (3) Lukes together ? 77/78/79 This is why we can’t trust the government.
"just the good ol 'boys, never meaning no harm".....
since Dylan retiring , j coop need to go after #14 next yr IFYKYK
This AMA numbering system makes no sense.
They came up with this new SMX 'World Championship' for the 250 and 450 classes, tracked the points for both classes and only assigned a #1 plate for the new series.
A better system would be to get rid of earned numbers and favorite numbers.
Assign numbers in EACH class by the actual finishing position for the SMX series in each class.
The way it is now with Earned numbers and favorite numbers riders are pushed down the list and assigned a number higher than their actual earned finishing position for the 'World Championship'.
Combiining the 250s and 450s for National numbers makes zero sense as most of those riders never raced each other.
Give a different colored plate to the #1's in SX and MX

Davies is going to look really good with number 5. Interesting that Ryder D is taking 10 instead of 22 which was previously reported.
Seely would finally be able to sleep at night
Guess we won't get to see Davies with 5 until SMX next year
🤣
Unless he runs the opposite coast
With as long as Thrasher and Hammaker have been racing, and the successes they've had, it's crazy they haven't earned career numbers yet. Same with Jordon Smith. Outdoors is really killing those dudes.
No shade on Ryder D, but him getting a career number illustrates why 250 results shouldn't qualify.
250 riders raced against the entire 250 field 14 times during the regular season (Three SX Showdowns and 11 outdoor Nationals.) Only those races should count toward their national number.
Giving them full credit for their other 7 Regional SX races makes no sense whatsoever and it penalizes the full-time 450 privateers.
Why cuz he did it in less races ..if u think about its pretty good to be able to earn it while racing less races than the 450 riders
Yeah, I think the fewer races cancels out the reduced competition.
I believe that to run a career top 10 number in the premier class, it should be earned in that class.
They really should only highlight the number changes. Whole big ass list for 3 moves.
5** – Cole Davies
10** – Ryder DiFrancesco
61** – Jorge Prado
That's it everybody, save your eyes some eyestrain.
I agree. Regional SX series earning point towards a national number shouldn't be allowed. He wouldn't have finished top 10 in points without them.
IMO, it should go back to the way it was. Rewards the 450 guys.
The Top 10 in points without the 250 SX points would have looked like this:
1. Hunter Lawrence — 820
2. Jorge Prado — 590
3. Cooper Webb — 579
4. Jett Lawrence — 472
5. Dylan Ferrandis — 445
6. Garrett Marchbanks — 438
7. Cole Davies — 407
8. Haiden Deegan — 404
9. Eli Tomac — 396
10. R.J. Hampshire — 384
What the 2027 National numbers could have potentially looked like without the 250SX points.
Agree and interesting, thanks Mav.

I’m just here to watch the annual bitching and hand-wringing about the perceived importance of a number on the side plate of a bike.
But what about relative positioned earned in SX and MX for each class? Should a rider have a different number for each series?
No comment on Cole Davies, just Ryder D?
What championship has Ryder D won?
What number would you associate with Hannah? RJ? O’Mara? Emig? None—-these guys’ names are bigger than any number. When I think of Kyle Chism, I think “Chizz”—-not #11.
Run what you earned. Be a man. 😂
You don't have to win a championship to get a career number
He finished top 10 in combined 250 and 450 points.
Even more lame....
Just my own subjective opinion, but I find it kinda lame when someone like Ryder D chooses #10 instead of the #23 he had as an amateur. It's like instead of having any kind of individuality they just pick the lowest number they can. I always liked Roczen running #94 through his career even when he could have run a single digit.
The majority of the list is new numbers/changes…
Or moves to 450 for outdoors, which some pundits have suggested as a possibility.
I remember RyderD running #199 more then I remember him running the #23. How long did he run 23 for?
