I don’t recall ever emailing a complaint since ML took the reins, but I think a couple of times when GuyB was el Jefe and someone had a complete meltdown and needed to just go away for awhile. They had to be pretty extreme, though.

Is this a joke that's flying over my head about cool hand luke?

Is it not in the upper left hand corner of the posts as opposed to the upper right hand corner on mobile? Someone told me it is, but I have no idea since I post from my phone 99% of the time.

Not really a joke. For a while it seemed like every third post he made was “Reported ^^^^”

would it help if there was a counter on the complaint function with screen name and/or email address of sender? Each account can only have 1 complaint about the same person across all forums every 24-48 hrs?

Yeah. Some of the things I delete I don't report simply because it's simple things that are against the rules, some of the things I delete I report because they're against the rules and cross the line.

For example, politics aren't allowed in Moto-Related so any slight mention of anything political gets deleted. I usually don't report those.

Deleted a couple of racist posts in the last week or so. Those I've reported.

Non-Moto politics I leave to ML. If there's someone telling another to go kill themselves, I'll delete and report. I've reported those types of posts in the past.

20-30 reports a day?

That's insane

I think I've sent about 2 reports ever, and I never downvote even though Michael's downvote hiding comments system has been surprisingly effective.

I've also never posted under a another name.

Settle it on the track, no reason to call the cops.

Not my system; it was introduced while I was away from Vital for a few years.

It feels like most of the political  threads don't even have that many people actively posting in them .   Crazy he gets so many complaints .

I might have tried messaging somebody when I saw one of those spam attacks . But other than that, I have spent enough days around a track to know that shit talking is just a part of the deal. And know from the exposer to my mothers time in the media , that anytime you share an opinion to a large group your gonna piss somebody off. And people are gonna say some mean things.  I really don't think anybody has ever said anything that I would describe as mean. But even if I did I wouldn't bother reporting anybody.

Do we really even see 100 plus different people in non-moto each day? It has to be the same people repeatedly over and over. I can post a pic of my dog and get down votes so how much of a stretch is it to believe it's the same dainty group making multiple complaints. The #s make no sense.

TM

There must be some people who just look. Some of the threads will have bigger numbers of views but not a lot of pages or posters in them. I wonder what the most recent triggers for the reports were? It seemed like things were relatively calm compared to other times.  But maybe I just missed a lot of stuff.

The downvotes just seem a part of the deal. When they get used so often it kind of dilutes the impact. If somebody just downvotes everything somebody says.   Only time its bummed me out is on the thread about Ezza's mom.  It was something he pointed out as a bummer.

But for the most part I  ignore  them or laugh when I see a post that gets hit with a bunch.   I've seen people post about beating cancer and get downvotes. or  like you said posting Your dog.  I'm sure it doesn't bother you and Your used to it. But it is funny how some people will get downvotes so fast no matter what they post.

The ability to edit a post you authored is not available on desktop browser experiences as well.

Are you on a MacBook?

I just logged on with the computer to check things out, and the three dots appear in the right-hand corner just like on my phone.

Edit: Have you tried different browsers? In the past I've experienced issues on one browser that didn't appear on another.

I get why ML banned politics. He doesn't need 30 emails a day about trivial bullshit. I also get why he does not patrol non moto for rule breakers. I guess I'm just a bit frustrated because I do like to discuss current events that many times include politics.

It appears to be a Firefox bug on both the Mac and PC. I logged in with my PC and looked at the site with Edge & Chrome and the dots appear on desktop. So my bad for using FF i guess haha.

I understand that, and it's fine when people can manage to stay civil, but that's rarely the case when it comes to anything that involves politics.

Take a quick look at any news story or bullshit protest and you'll see what I mean.

Go to the About Vital MX section and start a thread about it. I know other users have mentioned that the three dots to edit/delete their post doesn't appear for them either.

You banned me for a week because you saw me in a thread.

Not because of something I said. Not because I broke a rule.

You just saw my name, apparently decided that was enough investigative work for the day, and handed out a ban.

So when I said you showed no discernment, I wasn’t being dramatic. Discernment requires the ability to look at individual facts, understand context, and distinguish between people and their actions.

What you demonstrated was basically the moderation equivalent of, “Well, you were standing nearby, so you’re guilty too.”

That’s not discernment. That’s laziness with an admin button.

But sure, if blindly banning everyone in the vicinity makes you feel like you’re thoughtfully moderating, congratulations on cracking the case.

I reported a poster ONE time. Can't remember his screen name.

He was blizzarely aggressive,  psychopath in nature calling other members "fags".

Either he was a nut or was amusing himself at how long he could go before he was banned.

Human beings do this don't they? Amuse themselves by being annoying to see how long it takes before someone bans them.

I am quite sure I have never reported anyone or a post. I figure just as well to walk away and have whatever was posted stay there for all to see and judge the poster for themselves. The ONLY thing I can think I would ever report on would be if I was getting harassing personal messages from someone.
