Diesel was 8 bucks at the “cheap” station today. In San Juan Capistrano I saw diesel @ $8.49 “and 9/10ths” of course 🙄

First off I don’t cheer on everything MAGA does and have never made a comment on the national debt that I can remember or screamed anything , stop making stuff up😂. Anyway I highly doubt you’re not going to take the 5k, if it actually happens. Did you enjoy the bump you got on your tax return last year?😂 Yes , I drove transit buses 3 and a half years after 38 years in the electrical trade. The transit system is government subsidized if you wanna call it a form of socialism go ahead. All I know is , when I was opening the door, people stepped on , pay’d for their ride and took a seat.  BTW, I fully retired 2 days ago.

Hey Kenny :

A question : I saw a video from an American the other day, titled " Unwritten Rules in Australia", or something like that.

One of them, was Thanking your Bus driver.

I use the bus and train a Lot now, going into Sydney Uni etc.  I'm lucky enough to have a Bus stop 40 yards away from my house, that gets me to my train station, and I then  have fast trains into Sydney.

Bugger driving in the bloody traffic, nowadays!

And heck. having a cap on my Public Transport cost for a day of $2.70 AUD, is shedloads better than Fuel, Road Toll(s)  and Parking costs getting into and out of Sydney!

Bit of a bugger with no Bus to home late at night, but I can crutch along the 2ks, pretty bloody quickly. Faster than most people Jog.

I always say Hi to my local Bus Drivers have a chat to them - even though it says to Not to talk to the Driver, but they happily chatter away, Then thank them as I get off - and on all the Bus routes I use in the city after.

Never thought about it, but the video reminded me of it. And, I noticed most people do greet / thank their Bus drivers.

I say  or wave Hi  / Thumbs Up to the Train Driver, as I get on the front, Quiet Carriage  (one of the best ideas they've had!) , then, as the train terminates at Central, thank the Train Driver, as they get out about the time I get organized and hook my crutches on.

Do you Americans treat your Drivers nicely, or are we Overly Nice Weirdos here in OZ?

The 3&1/2 year’s I drove public transit the great majority of my passengers thanked me when they got off the bus, probably 80%. You get to know faces, friendly and not so friendly as well as some of their stories. Thanking the driver is not a requirement, but it certainly is appreciated. So continue to thank your drivers. Good on you Bear💯👊🏻

Just a friendly reminder there’s zero logical or material reason for diesel being higher than gasoline. It always was cheaper, it’s less work to refine it. Artificially inflating it increases profits and increases the cost of EVERYTHING we consume and need.

Isn’t diesel kerosene thicker so its more difficult to pump?

It’s always been that way, nothings changed there. Prices for diesel were always less, and for the last 20 years or so it’s flipped magically and now not only flipped it’s taken off. And it’s one item that affects literally everything. Ya think maybe it’s on purpose.

Got a text from truck driver son in law this morning. Diesel in LA today is $9.53, gas is $7.29.   😠

The pic I posted from last Tuesday has gone up 26 cents in 3 days. $8.26 for diesel at the same station today.

$4.79 got gas and $6.98 for diesel today at my local station.   Insane!

If it keeps going it’s going to being the economy to a standstill (and this is what Iran is hoping for…they have no leverage for economic sanctions, so this is their only lever)….

$4.30-4.50 for regular, $5.60-5.80 for E-free 91 and $6.30-6.50 for diesel up here in north'ish Minnesota as of today. That's a $2 plus a gallon rise since I moved here in February. Definitely putting a hurt on some people's wallets.

It's seeing the fill up totals for Trucks / Harvesters / Big Machinery in general that floors me.

A relo that runs a Station up in  FNQ just sent me a pic of  the bill for a fill up just one  of his largest machines : just under 8k!

It', Diesel, is Massive part of how EveryBloodyThing has gone up in price.

I've just sent my old Ford on to the wreckers to  part out, and my equally old, but buggeral Ks Diesel Van  will be interesting to fill, once I get it back on the road. . But that will be only around $250 to fill, and will be lucky to drive it around once a week.

Diesel is roughly 160yen ( $1.01 us dollars  or $1.45 AUD) per liter  in Japan at the moment

its gone up 20yen or so this year - which is expensive (in Japan terms) but not USA expensive or Australia silliness

from my understanding,  plain old diesel is cheaper to refine, but when you have to clean it up (get all the not so nice to breath junk out etc) ... it starts to get expensive.. .and also fuel taxes don't help either

This is misleading at best. You're taking a national average when prices were high due to Russia invading Ukraine. January of 2025 the national average was around $3.12 a gallon for regular and $3.65 for diesel.
