I’m of the belief that these companies being successful pushes the Japanese companies out of the MX business, not forces them to be competitive. None of the big 4 sells motorcycles as their main business line.
It would be cool if these guys made some 2 strokes too. If the 4 strokes are already pretty cheap then a 2 stroke would be even cheaper than that.
Doing some rough back of the napkin math, the kove 450 is 28.5% cheaper than the yz450f. If a kove 250 2 stroke was 28.5% cheaper than a yz250 then it would cost $5791 new. Compared to $8100 for the yz250. Thats a veryyyy competitive price and also once they go on the used market theyre even cheaper and all of a sudden entry level mx is affordable again. That would be awesome….. esp if ama added the equal displacement rule.

There is a 24 hour enduro race in the UK called Dawn to dusk and the winner for the last 2 years has been on a Kove rally 450
It’s a good thing that cheaper brand are coming in to challenge the big 5, it’s insane that a new enduro bike is £11,000 ($15,000) the Jap and Austrian brands will have to be more competitive as these brands continue to improve and prove themselves in the space

found a dirtbikemag review of the 250 and they say its pretty solid, albiet slight under powered vs current 250f's. but with msrp at 6999 vs 8050 for the rmz...thats a huge gap for riders starting out or not racing.
hot take away: china could save motocross in america. Msrp $5,999 these guys are gonna eat japans lunch unfortunately. The engine on this looks the exact same as zxmoto and kove. It looks like theyre taking the ktm approach without being up front about it, pick a color, the zxmoto at least looks better than the other 2.

The entertainment for me is going to be how they do and which one does it best in year 1.
Maybe if they become good enough performance wise, reliable, and cost less. It will get the other manufacturers to adjust pricing downward or make more innovations to justify the price.

Not really, bicycle wheels are made to resist force in that direction and only 23mm or so wide, so it concentrates the face of the force.
It's possible to jump bicycles and as long as landing straight the wheels can resist thousands of pounds of force.
Plus in the photo the wheel is damaged, so it's not like it was totally impervious.
Also a lucky shot, if more rigid parts of the car were involved then we'd see more damage to the bike.
Should also consider this was more than likely a low speed impact as bikes cant stand on their own, so it was in motion at the time of impact which offsets the speed the car was travelling.
Lastly, GammaX is a Chinese manufacturer of bicycles, so that negates the entirety of your argument.

Being on the white flag lap of my riding days I say let the little socialists have all the Chinese bikes they want. They deserve them.
Besides, they just want something that looks pretty they can’t ride and won’t spend enough time on them to break them anyway.

Joking aside, Hsu was looking pretty good on the JHL - if that is a production bike, its good enough for the average Joe.
Kove already has a lot of high level racing experience - expect them to quickly do better. And ZX has a manically enthusiastic boss who is aiming for the stars, so ditto.
Meanwhile, new RM450s are on offer in the UK at prices that will entice you not to take the risk inherent in the Chinese decision. Yet.
