Just had mine go off on me. Totally warranted, and frankly I would have dislocated my shoulder (again) without it. Tucked the front end in some mud on an inside line in a fast 180 turn and highsided hard. Was weird hearing the explosion as it went off, and it was deflating by the time I was back up and moving again.

Crashed yesterday, again pretty hard, but at slower speed in the first turn. And didn't go off, nor should it have IMO.

The $110 it just cost me is completely worth it so I can go to work tomorrow without my arm in a sling for the next 6 weeks.

As an FYI, I run mine in Rally mode as I'm 95% of the time off road racing and forget to change it back when I'm on the track.

Also two hits the noggin, so my Moto 10 Spherical is now done. That's way more expensive to replace than the air canister on my TechAir MX.

I high sided and crashed, mine deployed, broke left scapula in 2 places, very hard hit, it did a-lot of buzzing, i really want to think it helped save me from more injuries, 

That doesn’t sound very good. Best of Luck healing. On 6-27 I shot into the ground like a missile .  Hands then head & left shoulder, had a hRP chest pro on.  Broke 7 ribs near my spine , collapsed lung , hole in lung from ribs. Googled why my left arm was shaking bad & body showered sweat . A certain type of shock u get from a chest injury.  No other broken bones but 3 rotator cuffs tore & 1 strained . Still not healed but working hard pt the shoulder. Rib & lung specialist said wed, to far into the game to do surgery . My ribs r ovr lapping & some at angles from 8-23 X-rays .  Hole in lung created massive pressure under chest cavity , spread from knees to my eye that was swelled shut. A paramedic I spoke to wed said your lucky , 5 in swelled out neck didn’t rupture that artery .  Dying a few times in icu was a freak . Unexplainable pain & pressure.  

I'm interested to hear about your previous shoulder dislocation(s). It happened to me many times in the past, but they were always from some kind of leverage event. Since you feel the protector prevented another dislocation, in what way did it help? I might get one myself.

From what we were told by our local dealer (mxboot) he was told the tariffs played a big part in cost. Maybe true, maybe not. New technology is always expensive. Look at it as an incentive to not weed it lol

I don't think third-party canisters will be available anytime soon, nor would they be any cheaper.

These canisters are not simple CO2 cartridges like the ones used for air pistols or bike tire inflators. You also cannot compare them to reusable paintball, scuba, or avalanche-pack cylinders.

The cylinder must fill the airbag in milliseconds. Because of this extreme speed requirement, a low-pressure canister with a standard electronic or mechanical release valve will not work. Instead, these systems deploy via a controlled pyrotechnic charge that instantly releases argon gas compressed to 450 bar (~6,500 psi). The gas must be completely inert; any combustible elements inside the canister could turn it into a bomb upon discharge.

If you look at any other manufacturer of airbag systems, replacement canisters consistently cost around $100. This isn't price gouging—it is simply the cost required to achieve the strict safety, quality, and reliability needed for active protection equipment to work flawlessly.

I’m thinking if I had a bad bruise, and someone could make it go away for $100, I’d pay. 

Let alone something more serious, or much more serious….

I've had 3 tip overs now with the Tech air in MX RACE MODE and none of them justified the bag going off and it did not, thank god. This is by far the most comfortable chest protector I've ever worn. If you're on the fence about getting one i would bite the bullet and buy one now. The only cons I have for this thing is how much you sweat in it, how you have to clean it and the dang charging port cap. Dirt naturally falls down in-between the chest pro and your back and that dirt soaks into the fabric and is kind of a pain to get out. The charging port complaint is a pretty easy fix, I just run a piece of hockey tape over the cap to hold it in place and prevent dirt from getting in. Other than that I have no complaints, I know people b*tch about the price of the canisters but I have no problem with it if it saves me thousand in medical bills.

$115 it may be, or probably $330 Australian dollars.

However how much does one day, one week,  one month off work with broken bones cost you?

I've separated and dislocated both of my shoulders multiple times. Played football into my college years before leg injuries put a stop to that (left MCL/PCL and vertical fractures in my left tib/fib). I can now take a pretty good force impact and a shoulder will pop out. Rotate my arm and there is all kinds of damage in the socket I can feel as it pops while my arm rotates in the socket.

I'm not quite Mel Gibson's character in the original Lethal Weapon, but it's getting closer.

I've hit the ground direct on my right shoulder before with way less force and had it come out. One of the guys that was behind me (I was in 2nd place at the time) said his bike caught air on the bounce when I hit the ground.
