Trump’s $5K Promise. Dividend or Vote Buying?

9/12/2026 5:24pm

This popped up on Facebook.  A Newsmax Article headline.

There is more to the article , I grabbed 2 screenshots that have a lot of the article in them.

He says that they plan on selling 100,000 of the $5M visa's.  You just open the boarder back up, and charge people $5m each to come in . So it looks like you don't need to worry about Democrats opening the borders , Trumps going to do it.  So it must now be a great idea right?

So far 1 person has been approved   and 338 have applied  , 165 have paid the application fee.

Intel stocks that the government would make about $80 profit off each share

The stocks they talk about will add $50B - what they spent on them so roughly $40B   so still only need another $760B to get there if the fantasy of selling 100K visa's also happens. Only 999,999 left to sell to get to that number.

Lets say it works and they keep the majority , BUT they end up not paying out the $5k,  Will people be as happy as they are now, or happier since  that $5k was well spent to keep Democrats from being elected?

And don't forget, China was medieval uintil Clinton, the Bushes and Obama exported the entire US manufacturing economy to the land of child slave labor and eating anything that moves. And shitting in the streets.

Last few times I was in Beijing, we stayed in the Hilton a block from Tiananmen Square. Two blocks the other way, street vendors were selling crispy cockroaches and scorpions on sticks. Little mini bug kebabs. Dee-lish! 5000 years of kull-chur!

Sounds more like downtown Seattle. People shitting on the streets. In front of stores. Eating anything they can with a dash of syringes laying around everywhere. Bums having casual sex on the sidewalk….. 3am and, you’re in a fentanyl zombie land. Nothing like the postcards they sell in gift shops.

But I think that most people do not really think there is a strong chance of it happening.

Its kind of like the lottery when you buy a ticket Your really buying the chance to dream about winning and know the chance of winning is really slim and unlikely.  It made me wonder about something.

According to some AI calculations using AI provided info

If Trump went to Vegas and literally placed a bet on Republicans holding the majority and he bet $338,461,539.00  that they will and won, at the current odds ( 7/2 ) it would make enough to pay back the money he bet, and pay everybody the $5K .

Who's paying the taxes when the casino pays out? Or is that enough for after tax pay out?

Likely just another whim of Donald Trump that will never see the light of day.  He’s pretty good at launching distractions.

$4000 or more is reported 1099 as income on your SS number. So that $5000 would get a 30% tax on it

Depends on who places the bet. If its placed as the federal government I don't think they would have to pay any taxes.

They could  use their tax exempt statis and hope the IRS doesn't try and fight them on it.  If its even possible for the government to place a bet.  And if a casino was able to  pay out over $1.5T . All of which is just as likely to happen as anybody getting the $5k  to begin with.

If Trump personally did it, then taxes wouldn't be a part of the calculations.

If it was the American people  that won, would it be any different  than the way the $5k payments would be treated anyway?  If they get taxed then the individual winners would be paying the tax.  I don't think they could double tax it , both before and after.  But I don't know how gambling winnings are taxed VS regular income.

If people are going to count the $5k checks as income, then income tax would apply to them anyway .

If the government won the money, it would be gambling winnings and no longer be able to be called a dividend . So I'm not sure if it gets treated the same way as regular income. The Government could avoid the  taxes on  the winnings as long as the IRS played nice.  I have no idea how each state treats gambling winnings so at the individual level that may vary depending on the states and or your past losses or winnings, etc.

I just figured that throwing out my own crazy plan that had many holes in it, but my math worked. Would be fun to compare to the plans explained by real Whitehouse officials involved in the actual plans they are pitching.  So far none of their plans  work when you do the math.

You would think that after  the  failed  deliver of the  Doge and Tariff checks, among other things  that people would feel insulted that Trump still thinks he's fooling anybody.   But then again he is still fooling some people.

Trump is play’n, he knows that even if he holds congress and the Senate, that it will never get approval. Thus taking him off the hook.😂

No better time to be joking about giving people who could really use it an extra $5k than when he's done things that have resulted in the opposite of what he promised .

I'm starting to think its more of a distraction to take attention away from other stuff.   One thing being how anybody who votes by mail and thinks they are all set to vote,  may just end up not having their votes counted or be able to vote at all by the time they find out what's going on.

That's going to hurt  both parties though. not just one. Of the people I know that vote by mail, its a pretty even spilt across both parties.  My mothers friends who are older, friends of mine who travel a lot for work.  Even Trump himself votes by mail and they are messing with the process  and doing it so there is not enough time to make the changes that are being requested .    The state of limbo that mail in voting is in right now is hardly getting any attention compared to this BS about payments .

It seems to be a very common belief that the payments will never happen, so why is there so much focus on them when  something like changing the way people vote so close to an election is not getting much attention at all.  I suspect Trump will try and claim election interference and fraud if it do not go his way and that's just what he's trying to do , mess with the way elections are run so close to when its time to vote.

Trump knows that this is really the last election that will happen that could impact him. After this he's gonna give even fewer f$%k's about what he says and does. He already is more focused on decorating  instead of doing things to bring prices down.   But then again, I've been staying away from watching any news, so maybe I'm just missing all the things he's done to counteract the ones he did that resulted in price increases.

I have strong sentimental ties to Seattle going back to the early 1980s, last time I went there not for work was 2 years ago for a 40th anniversary .... absolutely shocked and disgusted what the once beautiful city has turned into.

Like San Francisco, dirtbags and garbage and homeless camps and graffiti and whores and dope dealers all over the place.

No more hot Scandinavian blondes like my psycho ex-wife 🤣....... just street-shitters everywhere.

And the traffic is MURDER.

I wish all the wannabe socialists would just relocate to a socialist country and quit trying to change America. Oh, and don’t let the door hit you in the ass.

Cool, let's start with all of the people in the south on some variation of welfare, because you know, socialism and all.

Start wherever you want, but I wasn’t talking about forcing people out. Just saying if you don’t like it here and think a socialist country would suit you better, then go and don’t let the door hit you in the ass.

As much as you keep ranting about socialism, this country is propped up on it. So we either get rid of all assistance programs or we don't. For the record I am fine with dumping the whole thing and starting over. Way too many people sucking off the gubernments tit.

It's a bit of a tangent, but one interesting thing to ponder is when humans became individuals.  I don't mean singular persons in the literal sense, but when did individual property rights become a concept.  For early humans to survive, it required a group to protect, produce, and nurture the young.  During that period it is only logical that 'the group' shared nearly everything and worked towards the common goal of survival.  We obviously don't have the same level of pressures to comingle our resources quite that drastically now, but it is intriguing to think about just when that switch started to take place.

I think as soon as you start to flesh these ideas out it falls apart pretty quickly.  And there is no clear area to draw the line. Do people really want to get rid of disability, CPS, etc?

We would plunge into the deepest depression this country has seen.

It's not so much that I want to see the important social programs go away, it's the fraud, corruption and abuse by lazy and or opportunistic people associated with those programs that needs to be weeded out.

Too many people, both rich and poor, absolutely rape the system. Some would say the fraud and abuse by the wealthy is far more prevalent than amongst the poor, it's just there are far more poor people to focus the negativity towards. Easier to make them the boogeymen.

Burn it all down and start over with clear guidelines and guardrails.

It was a general question about WHEN the approach changed, not a statement that it shouldn't have changed.

Do you not think about anything that might challenge your worldview in the slightest?

Well I can tell you that the change came in America right after the country was founded. The first settlement was established with a form of socialism. It became obvious that it would not work because some people took advantage of the situation. Those that do not know history are destined to repeat it.
