CB750SC is the styling base.

Ascot? You shut your dirty mouth!

Ascot was basically styled off the same bike and has the same capacity as the new one was all. Everyone was trying for a dirttracker style around then.

Ascot is a 500 V-Twin, not inline 4 like opening post here and most follow-on posts. A 500 twin is naturally going to be lighter and more nimble than a 4.

Well, yeah, just the first bike I thought of when I saw the thing was all. Similar-ish to that Kawasaki.

it's all good 👍 main reason that GPZ Kawi popped into my head was because I always had the idea to transplant 1 of my RD350 motors into a more modern chassis with streamlined styling and have loosely looked around for a GPZ 305 for decades.

The Ascot name was used for the V-Twin VT500 and also the single FT500.

Since we're talking classic 4 cylinders, here's my pops on his 1982 GPZ550

No inline 4, no bueno...

But I had a KZ750 in high school back in the late 80s, so I'm biased.  My best friend had a GS850.

Everything's going towards twins now. Lower RPMs, lower maintenance and manufacturing costs. They sound like shit though, nothing beats the round of a 600cc 4 cylinder screaming by on the straight. The only exception being 2-strokes, I'e watched that video of Kenny Roberts riding the TZ750 at the Indy Mile about 1000 times just to hear that thing scream

CB750 was stone reliable unless it sat for about 6 months then new battery and carbs and gas tank needed to be cleaned and I have prolly done a 1000 of those over all the years of wrenching.

I always liked the gpz1100 they made at the turn of the century but it was a little too early for that type of retro style.

that was fresh and current styling then. It only becomes retro decades later when somebody recycles it because practically everything else has been done to death over the years.

I had that exact same bike. I replaced the buckhorn bars with dirt track bars.
