Wrong angle dude! A steady, solid roost was flying off of Stewart's rear tire all the way to impact. Look at the knobs on the front tire compared to the knobs on the rear tire in your picture. Rear tire is obviously spinning faster than the front tire meaning he was hard on the gas. Good first post though and thanks for the picture...

anyone that can't see that Reed had position on James is either in love with 7, doesn't understand racing, or just plain can't deal with reality. Chad's wheel is in the perfect place for a block pass. I have to admit when I saw it in real time I thought it was borderline dirty but after the replay it was obviously a clean move.

James is railing the outside line hard, and you think he is going to anticipate Reed riding straight across the entire track towards the front row??? WTF. JS is supposed to reef on the front brakes and flip himself over the bars so he doesn't get Taken out by Reed!!!
Yup great "pass" by Reed, thats why they both crashed and he lost 2 points in the process! Brilliant!

Watch the slo-mo replays that someone posted in the main event discussion thread. It does look like Stewart let off just prior to hitting Reed.. while it also looks like Reed slid and just about squared the turn prior to contact.

Was for the win and anyone on this board would have done the same thing if at that level and in that situation.

I can't wait to go to Indy!!!

TOTALLY CHECKED UP? I had assumed this was some subtle sarcasm.

Shite, just look at Stewart's right wrist. I doubt he can pin it any harder.

I will say that a still shot is a little deceiving. You need to factor in the speed a rider is going when you go for the block. I think Reed needed to cut it a little more inside in this instance. Give it a 60% responsibility to Reed, 40% to Bubba.

I can understand Reed going for it though in this particular situation. He had worked too hard, leading the majority of the race. And yes, James could have backed off. For a top rider he doesn't have much of a history of being able to switch it up in these situations. He pretty much leaves it pinned and damn the torpedoes. Maybe that's his strategy.

Come on....if ANYONE made this move on the first lap it would be DIRTY....on the last lap of an FIM sanctioned AMA Championship Supercross Race...it's just what the Dr. ordered. And that's all I have to say about that.

James' body positioning says it all. Before he and Reed ever hit James was leaning over expecting contact. He was READY for it. If you're ready for something like that it means you had enough time to decide whether or not to make contact. They both wanted that win more than anything.
