Star Racing Yamaha Announces Withdrawal from 2026 MXoN

Just stop sending a USA team. This shit is ridiculous. They have taken my favorite race of the year and turned it into a circus. It’s not even fun when we can’t or don’t send our best team. Riders don’t care(which I do get the long season), teams don’t care, and even the other counties don’t send their best teams.

Never select Deegan again, he always finds a way out. Let’s pick riders who want to go.

Unfortunately, Haden plays the patriotic game but it's all about the money. Everything seems to be about the money. Brian, how about you and Haden pony up and send him to the race? Is there any sacrifice you can make for the country that has given you soooo much?

Right? They play the MAGA card and then hide when it’s time to put up or shut up…

You can guarantee that if the race was in USA with the exact same schedule there would be another excuse they would come out with. For Deegan it’s a get out of jail free card from having his arse handed to him!

Every friggin year and here we are again....selling t-shirts and a golf tournament isn't going to make enough to send a team....we do this year after year....the easiest solution is staring everyone right in the face just add an MXDN surcharge of $.50 on each ticket sold in SX/MX/SMX it would raise approximately $500k....problem solved enough to pay the teams and riders to do this event....but no we just continue to repeat year after year.....some would call that insanity...RaiseItforUSA isn't working...I would easily pay a $.50 surcharge for every ticket I purchase without batting an eye....this is a complete failure on Team USA's part....I mean fuck what a bunch of incompetent dumbasses we have in charge of Team USA...

Business 101. Shit is way too expensive to do all that is involved for a factory team at a loss. A big loss at that.

Dont blame them. Sometimes when you want things to change you have to stand up... Maybe this country should take note of that as well for current state of affairs outside of moto.

Smart financial decision. Look up how much the promoter makes from this race and then how much it costs teams to go to this race. It's a no brainer for American teams not wanting to front the costs anymore. Have the team and riders healthy and prepared for SMX where the riders can actually take home a great paycheck. Good move Yamaha.

I get not wanting to go from the team’s perspective year after year, and I would get it from Deegan’s too heading into a 450 SX rookie campaign if he had gone before. But it’s a head scratching decision from the Deegan's from a moto fan's perspective. Keeping existing fans is far easier and far cheaper than acquiring new ones. They should’ve just fronted the costs it would’ve been $50–100k well spent for some solid PR at minimum likely would have broken even at least if not made some more on top of it... No more USA chants, no more flags … Hope you get booed.

I do not understand and do not support...  Sorry, not sorry.  It's a promotional and advertising expense.  I was in management in a large fortune 500 company and we went to expensive trade shows often.  For the visibility and recognition, not always the "sales".

Absolutely sickening. No need for these douche bags to wave an American flag anymore. They basically just screwed USA out of a possible MXDN victory. Disgusting.

Wallet gets a little light when you field 1/3 of the 250 class I guess.

I'm not sure how to look it up. Tell us what the promoter makes? I'd like to know. I'm either too dumb or too lazy to find that info. Maybe both. Lol

Man, I hope this isn't the beginning of the end of USA giving up going at all. You know damn well there is no way he's going next year. Every year we give up, it gets easier to do it again.

Racing is a money losing endeavor. Why waste a bunch of money for a race that means nothing and gets poor exposure in the states? Its going to cost 30-50k per rider for bikes and personnel for one weekend. I back Star and Deegan on this one.

in today’s sports world , it gotta make sense with the dollars & if it’s not then it is wht it is 🤷🏾‍♂️ I don’t blame deegs & Yamaha standpoint plus if mxon is not in their contract , the athlete or team is not obligated to go if they don’t want to

Will all get it about not going. Its about money and to many races during the year.  With that, GFY NOT-A-STAR-YAMAHA. 😭

Not sure American Honda would support Hymas (or Shimoda?). Part of the reason the Lawrences are taking the year off is to give the team a rest, something the team wanted. So possibly no US based Kawasaki, Honda or Yamaha this year.

If there was truly a desire to attent and race MXon and its simply a budget/ money concern getting the team and bikes over, I would image that without much difficulty they could use that budget from WSX to head to Europe one week earlier. I find it hard to believe Star couldnt afford one extra week of providing accomodations and food for the team. Lastly, in terms of expenses If Deegan really wanted to go and the team cant afford it, im absolutly certain that the expense of paying out of his own pocket would not be much different than the average middle class guy trying to feed has family being asked to donate his money to the AMA to support the USA team in going. When considering Deegan is driving around half million dollar cars, wearing $100k watches and flying private planes to races.

I'm sure the team looked at whatever "data" they need to make big decisions like taking a factory effort overseas in today's economic climate. While your point is valid, don't you think they weighed it out?

It’s been over for some time—-it was just running on fumes. Younger generations doesn’t care. Hell, you get shouted down by lunatics if you even cheer the U.S. flag.  Every country in the world is allowed to be proud of their country, flag, and anthem. But, when the Americans do it—-it is viewed as “gross nationalism” and “arrogance.” To be honest, the U.S. doesn’t need the rest of the world—-and they don’t need the U.S. #laissezfaire

Write your local Yamaha Motor USA representatives!

In all seriousness this is really sad and super lame.

Coolest and most patriotic race of the year. This doesn't only screw us as the fans, it screws their own riders who may have wanted to race for Aus and NZ.

I understand the money side of it on a technical level, but it just seems really cynical on the part of Yam/Star. It's a similar line that Kawi took in the past too.

I'm really sick of this "what's in it for me?" world. I get the event itself is run in an unscrupulous way to begin with, in front runs their business in a hilarious and rider unfriendly way even compared to MX Sports and Feld, but the tradition and history are important to the fans. Sad that Yam/Star/Deegan don't see that.

I really wonder what changed in the week where it went from everyone reporting they were in and now? I guess they just hadn't thought about the length of the schedule and costs until now? That must be it....

Why’d they have to announce it? Just go about it quietly. Stupid PR

The 9-hour drive between the events must be really expensive!
