I think most including me do not deny the skill. It’s just the attitude, lack of sportsmanship, integrity, honesty and authenticity that turned people away and make them call him out on it now.

Regarding the banter/drama creation:
He is too much of a chicken (and obviously he is not fast enough) to make this into a reed stewart type rivalry and really getting into each others faces. Now that is a true rivalry. Remember James wanted to confront reed at one point but only his bike was there so he kicked it off the stand (iirc). Instead when hayden  tried that he got turned away by hammakers mum like a little boy.

Now regarding calling jorge gay. That’s really all that is, would be actually not that of a big deal if he would be that type of personality. I would even think Jorge is a guy that would be up for some banter. Just like hunter and Jett would be. But coming out of Hayden’s mouth it is just artificial.


TLDR: you can’t fake a rivalry or true banter. You need an authentic personality.

Nobody fumbles a name that badly by accident. 'Whore Gay' sounds exactly like what a crew calls Jorge when the cameras are off — Deegan just got so comfortable with the nickname that it beat the real name to his mouth in the presser. That's not a pronunciation slip, that's a nickname slip. And it tells you everything about how the Deegan camp talks about a two-time world champ behind closed doors.
