Inconsistent Penalties

Anyone have any insight to why Jesson Turner was only penalized with last gate pick and 10 fictitious license points for cutting the track 10 times? I thought the rulings were all black and white by the rule book and no grey areas anymore. Shouldn’t he have been docked 10 positions? He finished in the points at 19th. If I was Hunter Yoder who finished 22nd (or any of the guys who finished 19-21) I would be pissed

I’m really surprised that nobody else cares about this. Is Jesson Turner a Make-A-Wish kid? Am I missing something on why everyone is okay with inconsistent penalties being handed out?

Somebody named that poor kid Jesson. That should be 10 points right there.

It's in the rulebook, they tell me.

Have you read the rulebook? I would think that's a better route than asking vital members who haven't....

The rulebook says "In situations where a rider does not gain an advantage, the rider may receive License Penalty Points for not staying on the marked course. "

So maybe they determined that his track cutting was not gaining an advantage, but was a safety issue.  So only a license point penalty?  Just a guess.

It coulda been for the 'line' that formed at the tree turn, where yes it was outside the markers but probably wasn't gaining any time plus in the video Matt Burkeen posted showed that he maybe could've pleaded innocence as it wasn't obviously outside the markers..

That's if it was for that section haha

Since you’re such an expert and historian of the sport, I’ll ask you. How many times have riders been penalized in the past for going off track and not gaining advantage?

So Ferrandez loses his fast lap in qualifying next week because he jumped in a red flag?

He lost his fastest lap from Unadilla 450A qualifying 1, when he jumped on the red flag during that qualifying session.

We don't have to go back too far in history as the rules that most don't understand regarding this are new this year....

Its Starting to Feel like it’s the government of making stupid rules and throwing people in jail.

The stupid plastic markers that a plastic sponsor had their name on was always a suggestion not a concrete line. Watching old real Unadilla race footage the track was really wide from banner to banner. That was a much better track where the riders could make different lines !

So zero. You see where the confusion lies then. Not sure why you always have to respond to everyone like such a jerk on here.

I don’t understand how a rider chooses a line that is off the course multiple times and it doesn’t provide some sort of advantage. Seems more like the AMA decide to relax the penalty at the end of the season.

LOL, There is a thread in "non moto" stating that there are bigger jerks in here than non-moto. I find that hard to believe myself, but maybe it's true.

They need to go back to banner flags or alike if they are going to call ticky tack stuff that they are calling.

And it seems these license points penalties have nothing to do with your actual AMA Pro license correct? They are just points until a certain level......then.............

the teams complained that the little things like blue flag infractions, and  track edges were being abused (deegan was a big offender here but not the only one) but didnt want minor infractions penalised by positions like track cutting,  so they came up with the licence points system to give more tools to address it,  this is the result,

Because he has a superiority complex and can never admit he’s wrong

It’s the most consistently inconsistent penalty system.

It wasn't only a license point though, he also got last gate pick

Does it have anything to do with his AMA Pro license? Or is it just a penalty point of some sort.

Last gate pick was because he accrued 10 points and that is the consequence when you get 10.
