Lucas Coenen made the tough decision to withdraw from the Grand Prix on Sunday morning. The Belgian had attempted the MXGP Qualification Heat exactly one week after the crash in England that saw the championship contender sustain hematomas around his left hip which caused compression of the sciatic nerve. Despite treatment and attention through the week, Coenen could not race in Loket. He’ll now pursue more recovery options to improve his condition.
Lucas Coenen tried to go through the pain barrier with a compressed sciatic nerve in his left hip but the Belgian pulled out of Saturday’s Qualification Heat and did not compete on Sunday. The 19-year-old will assess his condition in the run-up to his home Grand Prix this week

“Not much to say. I did what I could to be ready for Loket: physio, massage…but I was in pain all day. It’s tough to take. I can only hope I will feel a bit better with each day, and we can think about Lommel.”

Still far from the Gajser we have seen last year before his injury. He's clearly not comfortable. Nobody has been happy with the Yamaha the past years. Renaux didn't make a secret out of it that he didn't gell with the bike. Factory Yamaha in MXGP is basically Factory Kawasaki in the US lol
This was Gajser last year before he got injured in switzerland. I think people already forgot how good the dude was. Yamaha must pay really good tho while the paycut at Honda had to be massive.

Geerts was 7th at Loket. 8th in qualifying. I wouldn't call that falling off. He's been building all year.
Agree, but the last few seasons where horrible.
Regarding the races: I really enjoyed seeing the MX2 class having 40 entries with a bunch of quality entries in it. It probably didnt really show on the tv broadcast, but the fights for places 15 to 30 were nice to see at the track.

I guess he might regret not taking the pay cut at Honda.
He's been getting much better over the last couple of rounds. Let's hope he continues like this.

That puts him 14-15 which he where he would normally be.
Time wise , he is deffo closer to the leaders, and they are making progress, but he hasnt suddenly got faster.
Watched again, again that contact in slowmo and I think Herlings have not clear conscience this time.
People are always missing. It matters not a bit.
If you are using it to justify an improvement, it kind of does.
And when they are all riders that would normally be in front of him, you cant choose to ignore it.
He is definately better than the start of the season, no doubt there. He was getting lapped at the early races

Last year in Spain he won the qualifying race.
All that talent can't be gone all of a sudden. It's the bike he's on now. He had some trust issues aswell, but those seem to have faded.

With how Gajser and Renaux have gone, it shows that his Yamaha performance wasnt as bad as it appeared.
Gifting chose to stay at JK rather than take the factory bike , didnt he.
If Louis Vosters had a rider like Gajser in the time he was running the Yamaha Factory effort, that would have been more succesfull I think.
Gajser also reinjured his ribs not too long ago and is riding in pain every motto.
