This just shows how messed up the whole AMA system is.

Factory Team loses rider.

Team doesnt have a replacement agreement with another rider.

Guy who cant get a ride in MXGP , having only scored 20 points in 9 GP's in 2025 gets the gig.

Meanwhile 20 guys in 250 will neve get a 450 ride, because they can 'stay down and have another go at winning half an SX series'.

Big fan of Toendel, and Hakon Fredericksen, who is now doing sand racing in France, but US riders should be embarrassed at not stepping up to the plate.

How Mitch isnt putting McAdoo forward, is beyond me.  Yes he was hurt, but they have nothing to lose.

Lets not forget that the #1 rider there now is only there because Prado bailed.

I'm pretty sure Marchbanks was signed with Mitch, and they moved him up.

You are 100% correct, i think Mitch had said he may run him on a 450.

At this point , surely they run a 450 out of PC anyway, just because they can.

Håkon Fredriksen beat MX2 champ Längenfelder in all motos in an ADAC round last year.

Few weeks later he showed up for the Flanders GP and got 7th in a stacked MXGP class. How this guy isn’t picked up or even sent to the US to ride outdoors is unbelievable to me. Tøndel’s untraditional move to go to the US was brilliant. I hope Fredriksen does the same, and maybe Horgmo next year

I’m happy for him, he’s a very god rider. It’s just kind of odd because he has a history of not being able to put two good motos together. Looking back on his MXGP results really shows how bleak the outlook on the AMA series is. If I was a 10th-30th place rider in the MXGP’s I’d be looking to come over here.

This really smells strongly of kawi management being desperate to fill the spot. Also a little bit of smoke around maybe Chase isn’t coming back, they might really be looking around hard right now.

He’s not replacing Chase, he’s a fill-in rider.  If you are Kawi, you either let the bike sit or you let it be raced by a guy comfy on the brand and a fan favorite.  That’s common sense, not desperation.  The Kawi press release says Chase is healing and getting ready for the ‘27 season.  Not saying that proves he stays with the team, but I wouldn’t say it means Kawi is looking around hard now either.

Tondel is a fan favorite? How many people could even name him before this season?

He’s not a brand-name guy but he’s a privateer that’s done well against factory equipment and that many root for.   Good for Kawi for giving him a shot.

Mitch is putting McAdoo out of Kawasaki. He is with Quad Lock Honda next year. (as per ML)

Tensfeld I believe. Had to look it up, he won 1st and 3rd motos with a DNF in 2nd. Then got 6-7 at Lommel, so-so at Uddevalla, then was found winning beach races in France this spring😝

Toendel has the same first name as major character in Planet of the Apes.

And that was around the time he was bouncing in and out of riding a Yamaha and Honda for same races. Haakon has some serious talent. I was trying to get him a gig to come race a few nationals here this year but the beach racing was going too well for that

Why would Kawi want Macadoo? The guy is permanently injured and is also a SX specialist..

It's a great situation for Toendel but I agree.

The 250 program remains decimated by injury, so no one available there to step in. No one in MXGP available or willing to step in.

Really no option to fill the spot than to offer to a privateer who at least has some experience on the bike.

Bump, because I don't think some people here realize just how incredible this is.

Having a Norwegian rider go to the U.S. and earn a fill-in ride with Factory Kawasaki is an absolutely massive achievement. The amount of sacrifice, dedication, and hard work it took to get there is hard to put into words.

What makes it even more impressive is that he didn't grow up as one of the factory-supported mini kids in the U.S., surrounded by the massive support systems, resources, and opportunities that so many top prospects have. He had to fight for every opportunity through pure grit, determination, and relentless hard work.

And people often overlook just how difficult it is to even get started when you're from Norway. We only have six or seven rideable months each year, very few tracks, and often have to drive 5-6 hours just to find one that isn't covered in snow or ice, then back. Compared to kids in the U.S. who can ride year-round at world-class facilities, the odds are stacked against you from day one.

His journey is a true Cinderella story. Coming from Norway and making it all the way to a fill-in ride with a factory team in American motocross is almost unheard of. If you like a good underdog story, it's impossible not to cheer for a guy who's earned every bit of this opportunity.

Its proof the American dream is still alive! RO!

This is so well explained! Thank you👍🏻

Also, even if he does really well this summer for factory Kawi, I’m not sure he would be mentioned at all. Especially now that the World Cup is on

Toendel, Fredriksen, Horgmo & Oesterhagen (idk what is his current situation but he was good in 2024 in MX2...). Norway got solid line up of capable youngsters.
