And you're right about the dogfighting scenes. Amazing more of the pilots weren't killed. There was one scene in the script that was so dangerous that the film's lead stunt pilot, the famous air racer Paul Mantz, refused to do it. Hughes jumped in the plane and did it himself and was nearly killed in the process. (Sadly, Mantz was killed in 1965 while filming the final scenes for The Flight of the Phoenix.)

WoW I did not know any of this. Thanks for the info very interesting.

One of my all time favorite oldies is the original 1977 animated version of The Lord of the Rings. It was so advanced for that time and unique in combining live and animation together. The beginning prelude before the actual animation is narrated by Alec Guiness who was Obi-Wan in the original Star wars. His voice is perfect for narration and wish he was on audio books.

Another excellent trippy 1977 animation is Wizards. My parents had these on Lazer disc's when I was a kid and we watched them all the time.

Which one - the 1960 version with Rod Taylor, or the 2002 with Guy Pierce?

Both Aussie Blokes in the main part.

Both pretty good, but with a nod to the Rod Taylor version.  It's as old as I am.

But Cripes, even a 2002 movie is old , now.

There was a TV movie in the late 70s, but I've not seen it.

"Sleeper" starring Woody Allen and Diane Keaton is a great one must see hilarious. Can't forget "the orgasmatron".

I watched that movie probably close to 20 times. It’s one of the best.
