Did you get your $200 parking spot? Sounds like it’s crazy there, parking lot is full Thursday night and not letting people in after they paid for VIP parking 😂.
Serious question. If you have to qualify for the regional, how can there be so many extra people??
Can you still just show up and pay the fee to race regional still?
Thats how it use to be, if you raced the area and didnt make it you could just pay more at the regional and race it to qualify.
Not there but it looks like a disaster. I don't understand what the point of an area qualifier is if anyone can just sign up for the regional. There shouldn't be alternates at the regionals at all. There are plenty of areas to make it to a regional. Let's be real if you didn't make it out of any areas you have zero chance to make LL. Should be a full gate at regionals and that's it.
Yeah believe just a way for the tracks that are awarded a regional a way to write themselves a blank check for the year. This guy is charging per person gate fee, then a fee for your vehicle, pit vehicle fees and then because it’s supposed to rain he was charging a $200 VIP fee to park ona gravel pad so you don’t get stuck. Then since the facility is small they ran out of parking already last night and people that paid the VIP fee weren’t getting the parking they prepaid for. Sounds like a fun time!
Just a couple comments…

Easy solution, stop allowing alternates. If you can’t top 9(in my region) at an area you have literally no chance to make it. Each region has multiple areas if you have bike problems.
I know I’ll get called out for being negative but would really like to see moto media have an honest sit down with DC or Tim Cotter and ask some questions about the state of amateur mx. Are combines and futures planned to replace pro sport for stepping stone to pro, why have qualifiers if anyone can race regionals, why allow people to race/get tickets from multiple regionals? How are tracks vetted for these highly attended qualifying races? I thought they had to have an area qualifier before they could host a regional but assuming that’s not the case if this track was granted one. I’m sure the group can come up with a fair list of questions that many are curious about.
Archview has had probably 20 area qualifiers over the years.
I had no idea you could show up at a regional without getting in through the area. Wild!
Wow, so the parking issue never came up before? Take back my comment, from the pictures the parking looks like it could barely handle a local night race turn out but will admit I’m wrong.
This one is sounding like the ultimate MX Sports money grab of all time. $250 for parking on the "gravel" (announced as an option 2 days ago) but when people got there their reserved spots were already gone and they're being told "it is what it is" with no refunds. Folks were moved from off site parking lot to parking lot yesterday afternoon while waiting to get in line to get in the gate...then told to get back on the road and wait.
This isn't a regular regional. This is THE LAST ONE scheduled so all of the folks still trying to qualify for Loretta's are already stressed by having to be there. Now they find out 1. It's in the Hood 2.There's not enough parking inside the facility 3.Overflow parking is going to be off site IN THE HOOD. 4.Everything has additional last minute fees attached that seem to change by the minute.
Growing the Sport!
Base the region/qualifying off of the parents or your drivers license. Don’t make it, tough shit. Buuuuut that leaves to much money on the table for mxsports….
As long as idiots keep going, the costs will continue to rise and the experience provided will continue to degrade.
How many people will die if there is a fire?
Lots of kids have gotten 30th at an area then went to the regional and won. My kid did it last year (was healing from a broken leg at the area). Lots of kids have mechanicals and are top kids too.
Even if they only let the top 9 show up to the regional, could still have 70 plus kids. 9 from each area, plus 8 areas, equals 72.
If they did only allow the top 9, it wouldn’t change anything, people would just go to a second area to get a top 9. If you go to the areas further away, they often only have 9 kids show up. It’s the southern areas that are a shorter drive that bring a ton of kids. If I knew we 100% needed a top 9 at the area, we would go to ones a little further that only 9 kids show up to.
A possibility. Would be more concerned with a weather event, EMT access or needing to leave if my kid got hurt and being parked in.
Pit Row
The guy that runs the race is obviously overwhelmed with this situation. I feel bad for him because #1) he's a good dude and #2) he's part of the our moto family. i've been in that type of situations (holy shit....everyone is looking at me to fix this....i have no answer). The only way to get through this event is for everyone to start pitching in and stop complaining. It went south due to the parking.....don't let it ruin the whole weekend....work together and figure it out or it's just going to be a total waste of time.
My buddy paid $250 for a “reserved spot”, he showed up and they had given his spot away. He parked in another “reserved spot” and apparently the owner came over threatening to call the police on him if he didn’t move, he said go ahead… He’s still parked in that spot. Lol
Crutcher is probably friends with Owner Paul.
Great dirt track in the worst neighborhood in the USA
Do not venture off nearby unless you go 5 miles to collinsville Illinois.
No caseyville, no saint louis, no eat st louis, no fairmont city, no state park, no madison and no granite city
Collinsville, Glen Carbon, Maryville, Troy only within 15 miles or less
that lady is nuts that's for sure
Would agree with this 💯 except for rumors that numerous people brought their concerns up earlier in the week and then he posted up a video in which he said there will be plenty of parking. And then when the forecast called for rain he started advertising the gravel $200 parking spots.
I started following her! Get the popcorn out.
Coming back from injury, a crash, or bike problem is not what I’m talking about with that statement(crazy this has to be explained). If you have been around moto kids long enough the same kids who have no shot making it go to the most races. Thats what I’m talking about.
After doing the numbers you are right not allowing alternatives wouldn’t change much. What they should do is make it 8 areas top 5 qualify from each area. If your kid is hurt or crash go to another area. Sorry chasing Loretta’s isn’t cheap.
The owner has needed a good old fashioned ass whipping for 40 years
Smug Mf'er
That's not a good way to handle it. He messed that up 100%. I just would want the race to happen if i paid all that money and was trying for LL. Yeah it sucks and yes it's bullshit but this can still wind up being an awesome weekend for those racers. Weird location for a track but they generally make it work.
What they need to do is get rid of areas completely. Do it just like 2020, have super regionals, that was awesome!
You’ll end up with the 42 fastest kids at Loretta’s in each class still.
Of course they won’t do that, because they want all the profit from the 50 or so areas. Although I’d be willing to pay double the fees at super regionals to not have to attend an area ever again
It's not nearly as bad as it used to be.... and quite frankly, I'm a huge fan of the easy access to the plethora of strip joints within minutes of archview... some of which are quite adventurous...
But seriously.... just not much room at archview for really big events... and yes, you can make one wrong turn and be treated to some of the worst the stl has to offer....
I own a utility construction company and have done many projects in and around East STL. It's one of the most dangerous areas I've ever worked in and we have completed projects in the worst areas of Miami, Southside Chicago, Oakland, Houston, Newark, etc. The police recommended that we limit our hours on site from 7-2, because after that things would began to heat up and they would have limited response to calls for assistance.
