When it comes to race sag I've always felt like the rear end was sitting too tall at 105mm!
I've owned lots of bikes in my life 1989 CR250.. 1997 KX250.. 2000 YZ250.. 2002 YZ250.. 2005 RM250.. 2005 KX250.. 2006 KX250..2014 CRF450.. 2015 CRF450.. 2017 CRF450.. and now a 2023 KX450 with a pro circuit link and knckle.. and every single one of them feels like the rear end is riding high at 105 mm race sag.. But every one of them felt really good around 108 to 110 mm race sag.. Is 5 mm really that much difference? Anyone else feel more comfortable running 110 race sag?
Thoughts?
I'm 5"9 average inseam
6'1" and I prefer closer to 110 also. Goes all the way back to Japanese 2 strokes. Maybe it's all in our heads?
I’m closer to 110 on a PDS shock.
I prefer 110
I started exploring a few years ago and 100 feels best to me.

My best guess is that you consistently set your forks up slightly soft or high in the clamps. For me it's more about front / rear balance than absolute sag numbers. My Husky is pretty picky though and if it's off by 3+ mm it's hard to turn, or hard not to turn! When it's on its ON though! I found that when I switched from WP to KYB forks it got a less sensitive and I could run a little more turn oriented balance without getting as unstable.
That’s the recommendation for PDS so…
I run 110 -114 run a lot of sag until the frontend pushes then back it off 2mm. I like a stiff fork & slow rebound on shock with the backend down. Set up for whoops & stability easier to run the bike to its limit
Off control. Then you bend wheels my front has 7 + bends inward from
Slamming clay whoops. I got my revalve too soft revalved , hope the forks r stiff enough.
I'm running 107 for my '26 Beta 350RX. Whatever Race-Tech says. lol
I have found my 450RX is happiest at 105'ish, but I am running Luxon Pro clamps at 20mm offset . Still turns amazing and doesn't do anything stupid in higher speed sections. Caveat, that's how it felt on higher speed SoCal tracks, still haven't had a chance to try it out in this upper-midwest dirt though.
I've tried 105 numerous times. But with every Factory Connection rear shock I've run, they always had me at 108-110. It made a huge difference. 5mm can do a lot
The older I get the more sensitive I am to sag.
That last 6 yrs on a Kawi 450 I was always 105-106 with 6-8 mm of fork height.
Bought a 26 crf earlier this year and currently I’m at 100mm and flush on the forks.
6 feet. Anything over 102 and I can't turn 😄.
I've always run 95mm on my Yamahas. They would always turn a little better that way and I didn't feel like I was giving anything up in stability, either. I'm 6' 1".
Like Profeshional, I run a slower rebound in the back.
100-102 max for me
Ive run 95-98mm on my kawis and yamaha from about '20 on
