Thyroid issues are simple to fix, that's why I've always laughed at this explanation. For as long as he's supposedly been dealing with this, his thyroid should have just been taken out a long time ago. Find your dose of synthroid with the added benefit of having some performance enhancing wiggle room with that TUE and move on. If he's truly been fighting thyroid issues for this long he's either being managed by a quack or not following his doctor's recommendations.

Also, "thyroid issues" isn't a diagnosis. What condition does he actually have? I know, I know, none of my business.... but again the whole story has always smelled strongly of BS.

PEDs are illegal and not allowed in motocross racing.

No, it never will be fixed. Just trying to manage it properly.

Like I said in the last thread, I’m not his doctor, I just know it’s been a problem. It causes him to run out of energy, and he fights his weight. It’s not an excuse, it the cause of him dropping out of the series twice now. Maybe you should contact him and advise him on what to do.

I don't doubt that he struggles with weight and energy, but it's not a thyroid issue at this point.  It's just not a plausible explanation after this long. Finding a stable dose of synthroid doesn't take that long and he could just run a little high for a while if they can't get it perfect and it would only be beneficial.

Good point. Now if only the AMA drug testing program was relevant. Motocross has been dirty with performance enhancing dopers for 25+ years, minimum.

What is the current status of PED testing in moto?

For a while it was all anybody talked about. Now we never hear a thing.

Right, and then you’re on drugs the rest of your life trying to manage it. Now let’s throw in the athletic aspect of a guy in his early 30, and it’s not really that simple at all trying to constantly keep your levels in check. Honestly, if he was just some dope off the street, he’d be fine, but he’s not.

You don't withdrawal from PEDs like heroine or alcohol. You could argue a lower level or performance, but unless you think that Baker is giving his guys a bunch of synthetic thyroid medication to lose weight or something and thus rendering their actual thyroid/pituitary inactive, your narrative makes no sense.  There are much better ways to shed weight than taking sythroid or similar

It's actually easier to keep levels in check via exogenous means(supplementing for thyroid, or taking TRT for testosterone levels) than it is managing things naturally. Why you may ask? Because lots of factors go in to your bodies hormone production IE sleep, nutrition, workload, stress etc etc. When you replace your bodies own production with synthetic substances, non of that matters and it becomes way easier.

Why is it that the only ones “caught” have been affiliated with Baker? Why do riders that leave his camp suddenly develop autoimmune deficiencies? This is a pattern.

Someone should have explained that to my wife. She has been dealing with Thyroid issues for over 30 years and it changes all the time. i have learned how to recognize it by the mood swings. Her synthroid levels change as well. As far as just taking out the Thyroid, that is not always a fix or an option. It does sound like you or someone close o you is dealing with Thyroid issues but all are not the same.

Only if you show up with paraphimosis or an erection lasting longer than 4 hours. Then there's tugging, squeezing, compression dressings, scissors, big needles, lots of blood..... it's a glamorous job sometimes.

A 50 something female with hypothyroidism and ever changing hormone levels of all kinds is not the situation Anderson is dealing with. And even in your situation, you recognize the signs and adjust accordingly, move on with life.

I've asked before what Anderson's specific diagnosis is but either way the notion that this is derailing his career is just not believable. These conditions with varying symptoms just end up being the catch all thing that everything gets blamed on.
