That bike will out perform the TBI 150. You'd greatly regret your decision in selling for one, just an FYI.

I had a Lectron on a 150sx. The Mikuni seemed quite a bit faster once I fixed the jet block gasket and dialed it in.

I was just talking about platform, not lectron. I properly tuned carb is better than any carb replacement. But for guys that can't dial in a carb, those other options are good

If that’s true then why does every single form of professional motorsports utilize EFI? EFI is of course easier and better for the masses with its consistent performance and helpful for those that don’t know tuning well. But if your logic was true, you’d think that professional race teams would utilize carbs for better performance. Seems to me that EFI is superior for both ease of use and performance.

I am talking about carb vs Lectron/Smart carb (bolt on Carb replacements, not EFI). Read what I was replying to.

Now I will double down on the previous generation 125 is a better more capable bike than the TBI 125 at this current moment. But that's just the issues associate with the TBI 125's.. not TBI as a whole. That's why so many top amateurs raced the carb bikes at LL in 2023.

Whats the likelyhood we see a 150XC model? Ive been wanting to pull the trigger on a 125XC, but might hold off if we get a 150 version.

I've got an 18" rear wheel on my 22' 150SX and I'm thinking I'll buy the 125XC tank and see if it will fit on my bike for some extra range. Then the only thing I won't have is the transmission ratios.

Resurrecting this one, as I am considering a 25 150SX…..updates from any actual owners? I”m not afraid of the newer FI models…I have had 2 300SX”s with nothing but great reliability and performance….

Was seriously considering buying one and found a used 125 XC before that. I like the 23+ chassis, FI, and E-start, but damn is this thing slow.  Ultimately found that to make “good” power from the 125 or 150 TBI platforms an ECU remap and head is likely required. I have read the latest mapping available from KTM is a lot better, but not clear if it’s enough.

I didn’t want to drop $250-1000 on an unknown outcome.

I'm 37, I ride open practice mx with the vets, and this is the 150sx is the most fun I've ever had on a bike. I sold my 450 and picked this up and it just doesn't wear me out like a 450 does. That said, you do have to ride the bike more aggressively if you want to actual get around the track. I've only got 14 hours on it, but no issues so far. The rev limiter is weird, but it's waaaayyy up in the revs so I really don't hit it much unless I'm in the sand. I would definitely buy this bike again.

How heavy are you? I had a 25 150sx and while it was a blast, at 95kg I was just too heavy for it. Got a 250sx and it's just as fun, actually probably more fun and easier to ride.

Right now I'm about 200lbs with gear on. I'm not going to sit here and say the bike is a rocket ship, but it'll do what I want it to do if I ride it hard enough. That's kind of what I was looking for in a small bore. Full disclaimer, I'm not racing anymore so I'm not looking at this from a competition standpoint.

I had the bike resprung and revalved and that helped immensely. If I did it again, I'd probably just respring for weight and forego the revalving.

Great replies! I”m 190lbs but I have been enjoying riding my 1993 CR125 over the last few years, so any newer 150 will feel like a revelation to me….I have no problem keeping my old CR125 going around a track….I ride a 300SX and 350SFx as well. I”m almost 60 years old, not concerned about racing it, although I”m sure I will… the small bores are just plain fun to ride….I have been searching for a low hr carbed 125/150…but most are hammered and neglected….

FWIW, I have ridden this thing in the sand 2-3 times now and it has been so much freakin fun. Keeping that thing on the pipe while surfing a smooth outside line in the sand is freakin nirvana on a dirt bike. Am I going fast? Not really, but the sound of that bike screaming sure makes me feel like Tomac at Southwick.

That said, the exhaust note with the stock silencer is not particularly pleasing. It's flat, but KTMs have been that way for as long as I can remember. I put a shorty on it and now it sounds just right.

I would have no problem buying a new Yz125, but I have a ton of Austrian parts, wheels, suspension ect. Makes sense for me to continue on with them…the pumpkins have been solid for me the last 10 years….
