Repeated Concussions changing CS4 Personality?

Does anybody else think all the concussions might actually be changing Sexton as a person?

Like after Hangtown with the whole “ghost riding the bike toward the pits” thing after Moto 1… that’s not normal frustration. Dude has had a LOT of big hits to the head over the years.

People always laugh this stuff off in motocross because everyone is “crazy” or “competitive,” but TBI/repeated concussions can seriously affect impulse control, aggression, emotional reactions, and decision making.

Lately it feels like he’s riding and reacting angry all the time. Not even saying this as a hater either, it’s honestly concerning watching it happen in real time.

And honestly I’d hate to see it become dangerous for people around him too if things are starting to spill over beyond just racing intensity.

I hope not, but it's certainly possible. Head injuries have certainly affected my personality. CTE is a thing.

This is a really crazy story to have made up haha. In general the truth isn’t as extreme as the silly stories we like to tell.

So to respond to your post no I don’t think so.

It may or may not change his personality, but I wouldn’t doubt it is changing his riding.  Part of what makes an elite level rider is their ability to process information faster than the general public.  It is easily conceivable that the multiple concussions Chase has suffered over the past 12 months has affected his cognitive abilities to one degree or another.

He remembers me about Tua Tangovailoa QB of the Miami Dolphins after couple concussion he made weird decisions and crazy mistakes on the field and end up to get benched.

Antonio Brown was never the same after the hit by Burfict.  CTE is definitely a thing.

How many concussions has Chase had?

CTE requires lots of impacts over and over and over in the same spot with no time for the brain to heal. Football players get it because their helmets smack together multiple times per game, in the same spot every game they play. If motocross racers were vulnerable to it, you would already have seen multiple former racers have similar stories to the football players that you see in the news.

Chase isn’t doing anything that’s going to give him CTE, he’s just absolutely melting down to the lowest level because he can’t handle the situation he got himself into.

While that may be true, I have seen single big hits significantly change people's personalities.

I'm not saying I think this happened to CS but it's plausible.

Situation he created is a better description I think. That "situation" seems to follow him wherever he goes, unfortunately.

A happy and competitive Chase is a great addition to the sport, I hope the kid gets it together.

I don’t actually think we know the full cause. We can’t even diagnose it on a living human yet. Only in cadaver specimens can we identify it.
