2011 SX front wheel wash out's!

I Think this sometimes could be caused by those damn rocks that are the size of baseball's!. On tv we can't see them in the corners, but I think this could be one of many issue's as well as grabing too much front brake and speed plus loose dirt.

Stewart and RV are running deep into the corners with lots of speed..

Reed, Dungey and Canard don't seem to have any front end washout problems. That's why those 3 are a second a lap slower.

more like bike set-up... its a trade off, better thru the whoops = more push (wash out) in turns. steward and rv do seem to enter the corner with a little more speed then the rest.

These are top class racers and push it to the limit, its not hard to go over the limit and make a mistake, ther racer that doesn't make a mistake usually wins.

I dunno, but I watched the races many times over and over and it really seems like they start to slip before the wheel is in a full turn cycle, like they actually start to slip on something, watch the replay in slow motion you will see what I mean.

I could be wrong but I think all of the washouts have happened in the turns right after those small knuckle like landing?

Dunlops.....Mc use to use them and he was ok...they can't be going into the corners that much faster today then back then, maybe a bit more and more weight on a 450 but you do have the engine factor to slow up a bit...the 250 two stroke would fly into corners, brake hard like a mofo, point and shoot without too much wash out. To me it looks like slippage before being hard in a turn.

Duse look at how different people corner from back then...seriouslyu not only the two stroke 4 stroke- but I think back then they would slide the back end point and dump..now they swoop the corners big difference...for what it's worth.

I agree with what your saying but it sems back then there was more time to be made up on jumps and corners as these guys get it down to a nats eyelash it becaomes more critical to have everything ste up perfect.

Ya but dude, they are not even hard into the corner, they start to slip as soon as the front wheel is turned slightly. If there is grip it should hold, only if they is no traction or a slippery object like a rock. It looks good on tv than just like that whammm, like they were on ice or something.

Hi DV, i just watched RV's first fall again I seen all the baseball size rocks rolling around before and after the fall. It must a been one of those that got under the wheel, on the first fall anyways.

I remember reading an interview with RC towards the end of his career where he said that like the road race guys, he could could only ride as fast as his front brake would allow him to. He said Goose would carry different bends of brake levers with him, and he might switch after the sight lap if he didn't like the feel. These guys are pushing HARD into the turns, there are going to be some slips no matter how the suspension is set up !

I agree, go back and look at the tapes. The only time a washout has occurred is when the rider has cased the last knuckle coming into the corner. Maybe the oil in the front forks are still in transferrence and this has something to do with the front wheel washing ?
