Not exactly the best track on the calendar but hey with Coenen & Herlings only two points apart I'll watch them race anywhere.
ELLLEEEEOT : mate, be careful, my GF will have your guts for garters with criticism of " Cute Lil Teut "
She loves the place. Well, I think she loves Germany / Europe.
But, it's a Goat Track, according to some........
Just saw the entry lists .
47 in MXGP
38 in MX2
63 in EMX2
50 in WMX
Of course, there will be a few ( at least one, very unfortunate ) no shows, but, that's a big line up - just over 100 (Male) 250 class entries.
Why is EMX 125 left out of many discussions regarding MXGP?
Teuschenthal was a great track but the last few years MXGP have ripped it eight ft deep and it’s been a rut-ruined shithole like far too many other tracks. Last year my knees and ankles were hurting just watching it.
I dnt understand why the sport is going so far away from its roots with big hills and proper natural challenges. But then I am a cantankerous old git now at 47 so maybe it’s just an old fart thing.

I fully agree with you with regards to the 'Ripping and Rutting' of tracks nowadays.
It's just F**ked.
I so very often say - I'd love to see races - especially US Outdoors, as their tracks are so Ripped and Rutted - on surfaces like Carlsbad, and So Many US Outdoors in the (admittedly, distant) the past - and GP tracks, where it was genuine, Hardpack. Just go looking for various Videos of Races from the 70s / 80s / 90s.Especially the 500s - the throttle control of riders in the past, was phenomenal at times.
The Highest Level Riders dealing with what IS the natural terrain / geology of the local area.
But no, the Squealing / Squawking from many Riders and Viewers, would be deafening. Face it, unless you are Very Lucky, most of us are riding / racing on far less than 'fluffy' track surfaces - it would be far more 'relatable' for many of us, to see these Fantastic riders, deal with what WE deal with, much of the time.
Track is gonna get sketcky for sure this weekend. With the heat coming in they will most likely prep it again super deep and wet and will be well know as Rut-schental.
Hopefully they have learn from the past few years, but im having a hard time believing in it since the local fire army guys watering the track like its a building on flames.
All i want is everyone comes away healthy from this one as this is a rough track for JH84 in the past.
We want that bar burner in Latvia between #5 #84 #74
Reese95w: "In the last few years some of the best US Nationals have been at tracks where there was a threat of rain causing them not to pre-water as much and rip less."
You're dead on with that - I've thought just that, a fair few times. 'Sealing' the track, and then, Not ripping them again.
Well you saved me typing all of that.
Last time i went, and it will be the last time, we were only allowed to take 250ml of water in on a day that was 35° .
And this week's word is Ziegenpfad.
Great Venue, awful prep, although i do think it was better last year as they expected rain, that didnt come.
But will watch it all .
If Gajser is fit , i think he will want a bit of it.
Ben Mustoe makes his MX2 Debut , i reckon it will suit him, he loves the ruts.
They aren’t racing this weekend ? If they were they’d be included
I can remember when Red Bud was largely blue groove.
Fondly.
After a few years we'll make the short trip to T'thal on sunday.
As a spectator the track definitly took a huge step down when they closed the infield. This was such a cool place and the whole track was packed anyway. Now everybody has to watch from the outside, which is very very small in some places like the road to the track. There's a 2m wide area where you can watch. Stupid... I looked at the website and the say large bottles are forbidden. I'll try my 1 Liter water, cause it's really hot and dry here right now.
As for the track itself, we went there some years ago to do some regular training. Absolute concrete in the summer, which would be ok as we're used to this. But like on other tracks they added sand (others sawdust) to keep it deep and moist. Fine when the track is watered and prepped. At our visit you had concrete with a small layer of sand. This was the sketchiest thing I ever rode on! You lost the bike in a millisecond without warning! But that KTM guy with #84 smoked us like hell on that day, so maybe it was on us..
I’ve watched Ben since he was a kid, great rivalries with his age groups and always been smooth and well controlled. Loves ruts because that’s literally what he’s grown up with every single week racing club level events in the UK and honestly, the prep should suit him. Good kid and good family too.
My worry with all these kids is we are doing them a disservice by making every track we go to ride the same irrespective of weather or soil type. All they know is absolutely flat out, putty tack with deep rails. I’ve been watched them all struggle the second a track was more open and the ruts weren’t there because they didn’t know how to pick lines for bumps or search for grip when it got hardpack. We basically only need scoop tyres at this point.
I watched the UK nationals at Landrake last weekend, it was the same as every time I’ve gone there club level. One or two lines, ripped like they wanted to plant turnips, about 9ft of track completely unused all day long everywhere because they all went inside rut or second rut all day…
Anyway, sorry for derailing the thread, hope it goes better than we all expect and I’m rooting for Herlings as I’d love to see him win another title with HRC.
Thanks for that info., I didn't realize that.I figured they were a full time class
No Ducati and Seewer anymore, will he line up in Germany or Pala?
EMX 125 & 250 each run like 10 rounds. Sometimes it’s emx 125 & 250 on the same weekend but there’s only classes that take the place of one or the other. Emx 65 , 85 & open. They don’t run near as many rounds. Like 1-3
My favourite saying 'Ruts are not lines'.
Can somebody please put Pauls Jonass in bubble wrap for this weekend. Last couple of years Teutschentahl has'nt been good to him.
He has been quietly getting back to form this season, the invisible second Green bike, is actually up there , he came from way back at Lacapelle.
Pit Row
Does this mean that Seewer is gonna break his incredible GP’s in a row, it’s something like 219?
I would be buying a bike out of a shop with my own money to keep that going, not that he would have to.
I would expect that contractual issues with his own sponsors may be the biggest issue.
Yes he is. I stood there at the start and saw him going down that 2nd moto. I could'nt believe it was him when he caught up to Bonacorsi. Will be great for the Latvian fans to finally have him back. Believe it or not but the last Latvian GP he rode was 2022.
That's a very interesting question. Managed through injuries and other difficulties, just to break it over bike?
Two Suzuki's on the grid, how long since the last time?
Track are brutal. Ruts and bumps all over the place.
The dirt on the other hand looks amazing
mxgp class on track now, wmx moto 1 after!
Mxgp class is so fun to watch
Track looks good with the dirt, but really one lined
They said in the Broadcast that put some sand on the top and even now IS more dificult
Teutschenthal has been terrible for passing ever since they've changed the layout and start for the 2013 MXoN. Used to be real hardpack and blue groove in the 90s aswell, instead of this rutfest.
Vialle seems under the weather after his crash last week.
