So I noticed something over the last years specially since Jett has moved up and some fans being very "anti Jett" and now recently the constant 250 career comparison with Deegan vs Jett and but comments like "Jett only had to beat privateers in 2023" really made me question this whole thing.
In 2022 we obviously all got to watch an all time season between Chase and Tomac and we all thought they had reached that "new level" we haven't seen before. Before Jett moved up (and even after his MXON debut) a lot of people were like: "Jett will race for third, he has no chance against Tomac and Chase".
Then Tomacs injury happened (sadly) and Jett went undefeated with Chase not leading a single lap while still looking like he's been riding on the edge behind Jett just like he did in 2022. Even Chase himself said he felt like he was going even faster than in 2022. I literally saw people here commenting that he lied (wtf?) and they called bullshit on that. They couldn't handle that the guy who apparently reached the "next level" last year couldn't even make a pass attempt on Jett.
Then in 2024 when Chase won the MX title after Jett got injured the same people here were like: "Chase found that new level again outdoors, Jett won't have a chance when he comes back, he doesn't want any of that smoke". Then first race back and Jett immediately smoked everybody again.
Back to silence until 2025 where Jett missed SX and the same thing started again during the second half of the SX season: "That's the best Chase has ever looked on a dirt bike, Jett will found out once outdoors starts". And since Chase crashed at Pala and despite him still winning Washougal and the Ironman Moto I barely read any positive comments about him anymore, kinda like people gave up on him?
It felt like Chase was that "american hero" here for a lot of people who was supposed to beat Jett and the only hope for a couple years.
Since then this completely shifted towards Deegan. The timing is obviously perfect with him just finishing his impeccable 250 career. He is now supposed to be the guy and probably last american hope for an unforeseeable amount of time. You can tell the constant 250 career comparison and dick riding is already at an all time high. In their head there is no doubt that Deegan will "rise to the top", we haven't even seen him on a 450 yet for one MX race and some are already crowning him as the next guy.
So I don't think most people are really "anti Jett", they just want americans to win more and I completely understand it. I think we should really appreciate what is happening right now, the hype is at an all time high and I haven't been this excited in a long time.
I hope "my thoughts" didn't annoy you guys and it wasn't too hard to read, I just wanted to get rid of it! 😅
It’s just the bed bugs that don’t like Jett buddy. The Lawrence brothers literally let Kenny’s kid into their motor home to hangout all the time. Deegan had to move out of the 250 star rig because he’s a shithead lol.
Cringe lord won't even race des nations... America hero ... idk bruhh
it’s not the anti Jett or I want an American to win narrative anymore , we’re at the point with Jett & deegs just being an old fashion sports rivalry, the Pittsburgh Steelers / Cincinnati bengals , Chicago bears / Green Bay packers , Boston Celtics / La lakers , Yankees / Red Sox type rivalries, deegs fans don’t like Jett & Jett fans don’t like deegs
If you’re ever wondering where gt80rider is just look for the latest Deegs thread. He’s always lurking.

I mostly want Deegan to win because it seems to hurt the feelings of folks like you….some guys in here too emotional.
To me that's the interesting thing, everybody keeps on labeling Jett Vs Haiden and they will be a big rivalry without them even racing together yet, right now it should be Haiden vs everyone else until we know exactly how good he might be on the 450
Took the words right out of my mouth. Like if he does have the speed for Jett at round 1 then so be it. But at WSX he was getting gapped by Craig lol. (Come on let’s hear the excuses)
Deegan is an anti hero. Out there doing it for himself.
He has made me a jett fan and im proudly American and patriotic in the original sense. Deegan represents the twisted narcissism that the country has become known for worldwide. Yes he works hard. Yes he's bold. Yes he's NFG. those are all great American qualities too, but he lacks all grace and aura. Jett manages to do both.
good points 👍🏾
Good post Mavtsm. Well thought out 👍
I think it is natural for people witnessing a national slump to wish for a bright spot in the drought. Deegan is the only American phenom on the visible horizon and patriotic people naturally wish him to do well, while at the same time agreeing that a dose of humility woud help fill out his character.
We will soon see.
I never saw Chase as that guy. Eli put him in his place fairly easily when he needed to. So in my view the American torch is being passed down from Eli to Deegs. And I think Deegs has intangibles and abilities as a rider that even Eli doesn’t have. He is without a doubt that guy for America. For Deegs I think it will come down to how long he wants to do it. Similar to RC and RV, I could see Deegs walking away young after 5 or 6yrs when he feels that he has sufficiently made his point.
I’ll say, I haven’t been this excited since the days of Stew coming up to the big bikes! Amazing time to be alive and love this sport.
He's got as much class as his father's lips...
A little flashback… talking about Haiden.
Not enough TikTok ad rev to race des nations

100% agree. I will never argue the kid has a lot of attributes I could get behind but the main thing I cannot is his utter disrespect of his competition and poor sportsmanship. What blows my mind more is how his competition allows him disrespect them. Very interested to see how that plays out in the 450 class. Hopefully he gets knocked down a peg and grows as a human
I think this is an interesting topic. You are certainly always very levelheaded with everything you post.
I'm the most Pro American you will meet. But the past 5-6 years with MX I take it by the individual on and off the track. I follow MXGP as closely as SX/MX here. I have massive respect for a rider like Tom Vialle coming here after two MX2 titles and then coming to the US winning two 250 SX titles. I was all for it. Even if he is French. HA Kidding. Why, because the guy trains hard, races hard and is a great person. Now I'm ecstatic watching back on a 450 in MXGP. This year I was so hoping Tomac would win the SX title, but I was so happy to See Kenny win the title after all he's been through and it was extremely impressive to see how Hunter handled it. Doesn't matter that they are not Americans. They are both are what makes this sport great. Same with Max Anstie, Dean Wilson and Joe Shimoda
Over the past few years, I was in the mindset that I was sick of the Jett dominance and certainly was all about Sexton and Tomac finding a way. But it wasn't because Jett is a Aussie or not a great guy. But last year after watching many MX motos' in person I was like screw it. I have to just enjoy what I'm seeing with Jetts race craft and riding style and his personality off the track.
Deegan is going to make things interesting this outdoors. He's obviously extremely talented. He's American. Great. However, I have had many interactions with him and the Fam over the years, and they are just not the best people. Sorry. My opinion. And we all have seen the clown show they have created on social media. Just zero class. They are just trying to create a Nitch in the sport, great, show some class. Just a little class. Go watch Jett with no cameras around him and he's just a genuine great kid. Hunter is a good dude all around. No ego. Just wants to succeed. So I don't care any longer If Jett wins and dominates again. Will I still hope Sexton and Tomac can win the titles, absolutely. But not Deegan, I'll take Jett and Hunter thank you!!!!
Sorry for the long comment.
Hero my ass. Respect is earned by more than being out front, words and actions matter.
Yeah I saw that with Jcoop and how much hate he got with his MXON results in Assen 2019 despite his efforts and riding with a broken hand. A lot of people badmouthed him after that, even on his and his girlfriends social media. The hate continued even in 2022 when he got chosen for the team again with people disliking the decision, some even said "USA has no chance with Jcoop, just look at Assen". Then they won the event and Jcoop was THE GUY.
Or RJ last year who stepped up last second because neither Sexton or Deegan wanted to race, he pushed hard and crashed multiple times, probably put a lot of pressure on himself. A lot of comments were looking like this: "Thanks RJ for losing us this event, we would have done better without you."
And that's just two examples.
Let's be honest, in the end results is the only thing that matters for a lot of "fans", obviously not to everyone, but you get the point.
Says a lot for a short post.
Ugh. Is it Saturday yet?
Just watched the new dirtshark video. Imagine how many fans this kid would have if he just didn't talk
One could argue he has more fans and more money than anyone because of the way he does talk.
How many are over the age of 16? When I walked by star rig it’s nothing but squeakers yelling his name lol
Good point. It’s very important that he captures the 50+ demographic. They’re the future.
🤣
I love the sarcasm. I’m 56 and enjoy the stuff he does (but call him out on it too, to the tv) but probably because I have teenage boys and can relate to him better because of them.
Now if I had no kids at 56 id hate the guy😆
Post a reply to: Deegan, the next American Hero (or rather last hope)? My thoughts.
