I don't get the partisan push here, it's most certainly not isolated to one side. Maria Butina, Tenet Media, IRA (2016 election). Like Citizens United, it's a plague that needs to be rid of, but I can't imagine things will change anytime soon.

I’m pulling this all from my own memory.

There is a reason this is never investigated at the highest levels, they're all bought and paid for by our adversaries. It mostly happens through backdoor campaign contributions and "investments" in family members businesses, but some get old school honeypotted and then blackmailed. 

Get private money and lobbyists out of politics and this problem goes away practically over night. The level of foreign agent influence in the private sector is far more scary in my eyes though.

We have at least dozen in Canada federal liberal Party ( ruling party). Canadian government won’t investigate them. This partially why Carney pushing for trade with China. I am a canuck and the liberals are sabotaging Canada/america relations. Tariffs don’t help, however both countries have been compromised. The Republicans recognize this. Not the liberals. Guess what, there are very few liberals West of Toronto.

Despite the histrionics, what this person did isn't exactly espionage.  She hasn't been accused of relaying any intel to the CCP, but if it is discovered that she did then yes she should be accused and tried for that.

It sounds like she definitely broke the law, but it was failing to register as a foreign agent, the same thing that Michael Flynn did (although he later did register).  She should definitely be prosecuted to the fullest.  

Read a piece on her where it says she was a Tech Sgt...and all the while they're calling her an "officer"? 

Anyhoo...she's over in Iran wearing her proper face cover, now. Thankfully.
