Ddavis Observation Report

Here is my observations report from the L.A. Supercross.

- Ryan Villopoto looks smoother, faster, and more confident than ever. He's taking it easy in practice and not wasting to much energy, once the night show comes around he "lays the wood" and making it look way to easy.

- Ryan Dungey is looking better each time he is on the track, at A1 he looked a little tight. Phoenix, he was riding more aggressive and just ran into some bad luck (literly, Ryan Clark), and at L.A. SX Ryan Dungey was riding aggressive and looks like he deserves that #1 plate again.

- Trey Canard had a horrible crash in the heat race, and I was disapointed in the douchebags sitting behind me laughing at it. God was looking over Trey and kept him safe because it could have been a career ending injury "likethat".

- Cole Seely had a little bit of "spunk" in his riding all day, more than usual. The crowd was really getting behind him in the main event and made a few mistakes early on, the more the race went on the more he rode comfortably. The last few laps were nerveracking for all the Seely fans!

- Antonio Balbi is the most improved racer of the year, he's flying! He needs to get picked up by a team.

- Bruce Ruthaford is another privateer that needs to get on a team, he looked more comfortable at Dodger Stadium than Anaheim 1 and he had a qualifying spot in the heat race except for a small bobble, then got a bad start in the LCQ and chased down Ryan Marmont in a hurry but couldn't get him

- OT: as soon as I came into the pits this random PartsTV chick walked up to me and my friends asking us who's gonna win, when they got to me I said "Canard" but they didnt hear me and I saw the creepy guy holding the camera closer and closer to me and I don't like random interviews like that so I put my hand over the lense and pushed the camera away! This chick to be exact:



- The traffic getting out of the stadium was horrible, they really need to figure that out. Either way it left everyone a chance to walk around and wait for it to clear out, everyone was in good spirits and having fun!
- The "wave" was getting out of hand, if a certain area of the stadium stopped the wave, the entire stadium was gonna "BOOO!" you! The fans were at their "peak drunkness" at that point in time. LOL!

*back on topic*

- Vince Freise isn't a dirty rider, he's just a dumbass! He cleaned out Chris Blose in the heat race for 12th or something, completely dirty. Then in the LCQ Blose passed Freise without contact, and the next lap Freise pinned it WFO directly into the side of Blose, no intention of turning. Freise needs to be bitch slapped, especially since Blose didn't do anything.

- The first lites heat race was alright, Hansen got out front while Cole Seely rode a close 2nd. The biggest disapointment was Christian Craig who finalllly got a good break! Holeshotting next to Travis Baker, then in the 2nd turn Tyla "Dumbass" Rattray came across the track, resulting in Craig landing directly on his back, Christian crashed and didn't get up. The asterisk medic crew CARRIED Christian off the track into the mule, and I haven't looked into the extent of his injury yet today but i'm praying he's okay. Results: 1. Hanny 2. Seely 3. Morias 4. Tickle 5. Balbi 6. Hinson 7. Baker 8. Champion 9. Blair 10. Ruthaford

- The second lites heat race was a good way to start off the night! Nick Paluzzi grabbed the holeshot and squared up Martin Davalos THREE times while trying to get in the lead, Nick eventually faded a few positions, but made it a great race while he was up there! Results: 1. Davalos 2. Roczen 3. Tomac 4. Paluzzi 5. Decotis 6. Cunningham 7. Gillmore 8. Canard 9. Bright 10. Mull

- The first SX heat race was a Villopoto runaway, Simmonds finally qualified for a main event. James went down in the first turn but came back for 4th. Results: 1. RV2 2. Brayton 3. Hahn 4. Stewart 5. Regal 6. Millsaps 7. Short 8. Simmonds 9. Metcalfe 10. Freise

- Trey went down in the 2nd heat race like I mentioned earlier, and the rest of the race wasn't to exciting. Results: 1. Dungey 2. Kdub 3. Reed 4. Tedesco 5. Stroupe 6. Chisholm 7. Wey 8. Alessi 9. JT$ 10. Peick

- At this point the track was really fast in spots, and really technical everywhere. The dirt reminded me of washougal.. it looked superb but I can tell it was slippery. The layout was good, the sand section got rough, lots of lines, lots of options. The back to back whoop sections were trickier than the factory guys were making it look, overall the track was perfect for good racing. Crappy phone quality photos here:





Lites Main Event Results:
1. Cole Seely - Sorry, but I told ya so I told ya so! I've been saying it for years, Cole is the real deal. And look now! Makes me look smart for once.
2. Eli Tomac - Riding overly aggressive all day, made me nervous him behind Cole.
3. Ryan Morias
4. Broc Tickle
5. Josh Hansen - Stalled first lap, would have been cool to see if Seely could have beaten Hansen straight up, but I have a feeling Hansens experience would have gotton him 3 straight.
6. Ken Roczen - Could have won last night.
7. Ryan Marmont - How in the world did he end up 7th?
8. James Decotis
9. Nick Paluzzi - Cool!
10. Kyle Cunningham - Tried passing Roczen, and they both went down.
11. Martin Davalos - involved with Cunningham/Roczen crash. He also had an extremely bad crash in practice, coming up short in the triple completely sideways off the side of the track. Don't know how he got in that situation.
12. Travis Baker - Oh no! My fantasy team! Nooo!
13. Antonio Balbi - Will be getting top 10's real quick.

16. Travis Bright - Bright lives about 30 minutes from me, and deserves more coverage.
17. Jake Canada - Josh Hansen cleaned Canada out, if not for that he could have easily been in the top 10.
18. Casey Hinson
19. Scott Champion - He's dating Erin Normoyle, lucky bastard.
20. Cody Gillmore - Didn't he have cancer? To overcome that and still be racing supercross is incredible.


SX Main Event Results:
1. Ryan Villopoto - Right now he's the best one out there, he can come from any position off the start to win.
2. James Stewart - Crowd goes nuts over anything he does.
3. Ryan Dungey - He wasn't half assing it, but I think he didn't wanna risk a crash.
4. Trey Canard - Could have won, he was on it! Until a few mistakes cost him, he'll get a win real soon!

7. Chad Reed - Came from dead last to 7th, good ride.
8. Brett Metcalfe - Mr. 8th place.
