Was responding to sandman who said he heard fares hadn’t increased yet.

That’s bullshit and you know it. Please try to explain why fuel prices went straight up from there.

Spirit Airlines just shut down claiming fuel prices as major factor. They were on their second bankruptcy so operating on thin margins probably.

Airlines negotiate fuel prices many months in advance and sign contracts to take delivery at the negotiated price. Fuel prices haven't affected the airlines yet.

Good to know, article I read said fuel prices contributing factor.  Massie mentioned the merger block and high fuel prices. (Edited for grammar)

So here’s why the prices of gas changed, it mainly simple concept called supply and demand.

1) 2015–2016 collapse (biggest reason)

  • Massive global oil oversupply
  • OPEC kept production high
  • U.S. shale boom flooded the market
  • Result: oil crashed → gas dropped

2) 2020 (COVID crash)

  • Demand collapsed (nobody driving)
  • Airlines, commuting, shipping all dropped
  • Oil briefly went negative in futures markets

3) Why prices rose after

  • 2021–2022: demand came back fast
  • 2022 spike: Russian invasion of Ukraine disrupted supply
  • OPEC+ production control
  • Refinery constraint

Oh…while we’re here: since my last post about our Mach E, we’ve been informed that we now get an additional TWENTY HOURS A WEEK of discounted power (10a-2p on week days).

Nice!

What’s the discounted rate?  Are you on the local utility with the approximate $0.15 regular rate?

Paid $4.14 to $4.49 in DEN for Regular.

Paid $4.79 to $5.29 for Premium (test cars that require it).

E85 is the same/more than regular in the Denver area.

Note: you’re now able to (soon will be able) to get over 1,000 hp in a mass produced American car. Damn.

In other car news: Ford has a 350HP car that’s an amazing track car…it’s a Mustang with a 2.3T & plenty of “Dark Horse” goodies:

$43-48K depending on options.

The only bad thing about the huge horsepower trend in today’s cars is that they make the old classic muscle cars I lusted for in my youth seem like slugs. Loud slugs, but still slugs…..

I honestly don’t have many great pics. Unfortunately I don’t get it out much. I have a 2013 Boss 302 that I drive much more frequently. Here’s one when I got her and one that sort of captures the color (it shifts based on light / angle so its tough).

Saw diesel for $6.50 on I80 in Ohio, ouch. Good thing nobody is running a lot of tractors between Cleveland and Chicago this time of the year.

Oh ok. I thought it was because the biden administration shut down the Keystone Pipeline on day one and did not approve any new leases to drill anywhere, including the Gulf of America. Sure glad you’re here to clarify with your propaganda talking points. Thanks!

It’s crazy how low the miles are on some these older mustangs. My 03 has 53k and my 04 GT had around the same when I bought it. It has 91k on it now.

Yeah it was interesting to find it. As I was doing research I actually found out it sold on Bring a Trailer at one point. That was pretty neat.

Someday my GT500 will be like that lol. I bought it new with 5 miles, Feb. 2023. It only has 370 miles on it now.

760 HP, but honestly the transmission is the best part. Its on another level. 7-speed Tremec dual clutch. I’d put it up against a Porsche PDK. Its that good. I have 6-speed manual and 10R80 cars too and there’s no chance im picking either one of those over the DCT.

All the “iTs NoT a MaNuAl” guys have never driven one. Its a monster on the track.

Supply and demand. Did biden do anything to increase supply, or everything he could to decrease supply? Democrats want you to suffer with high prices and high inflation. They think you’ll turn to the government for help. Once they get you hooked on food stamps or section 8 housing, or government provided healthcare, or anything else, they own you.
