Riding My 2024 Honda CR500 – Totally Different Beast

Edited Date/Time 3/30/2026 3:56pm

What's up guys,

I recently got the chance to spend some real time riding my Honda CR500R (2024 build), and I honestly can’t get over how wild this bike feels compared to anything else I’ve ridden.

For a bit of context, I’ve spent time on modern bikes before, and while they’re smooth and predictable, the CR500 is just on another level. The power delivery is aggressive but addictive once it hits, it really pulls. At the same time, I was surprised how manageable it can be if you stay smooth on the throttle.

What stood out most to me is how raw and connected the ride feels. There’s no filtering anything it’s just you and the bike. It definitely demands respect, but that’s part of what makes it so fun.

I’ve seen a few Honda CR500 for sale listings pop up here and there, and it honestly makes sense why these bikes still get so much attention. They’re not for everyone, but if you’ve got the experience, they’re something special.

For reference, I’m a 30+ rider,  and ride mostly trails with some open sections. The bike keeps me on my toes, but that’s exactly why I enjoy it.

I’m going to jump in here and make my first post to, I’ve been lurking for 3 or 4 years.

I preferred the KX as well but I would not turn down the Honda ever, the newer frame has got to make that thing go!

Here in the South, we refer to the CR500 as a starter bike.

The YZ490-that’s the widow maker.

The fact that this has 10 upvotes is a good reminder not to let people on here get you too upset. They can't even tell a blatant Ai photo when they see it or the fact that a brand new account posting an Ai photo with a link to a for sale post lmao.

It should be mandatory to pass a quiz to spot basic Ai slop and blantant spam before posting like captcha.

The KX has more power but vibrates like crazy and doesn’t turn well. The CR was much more refined.

😀😀😀😀

Some peeps got trolled hard by an AI image. Happens a lot nowadays.

Look at the focus. The trench everyone is apparently standing in. Not even counting the weird stuff in the crowd and the bike...

It's concerning how many people get suckered by slop like this.  And it's only going to get worse.

AI is literally everywhere...  It's sad that we are headed to a world of mostly make believe.

Yeah, I have had CR500's for 20 years until I recently sold. I am tired of the clickbait too when I want to see a real enthusiast genuine post and get something else. Sort of poisons my memory of the good times when I see so much trash.

LoL...profile checks out as well as this post does.  Narrative in profile says they live in California yet location says Birmingham AL.

Person is prolly a scammer too as the name of the pic they posted is "2024 CR500 for sale"

Tracked them down on FB and this is an actual pic of them riding....should have known.
