In my new home of MN, it's odd. I see the prices of gas the last couple weeks going up, but I am a born and bred Southern California guy, so I think I am just so used to getting fucked at the pump that when I see it up a dollar or so a gallon, it's like damn, it's still so cheap.

But when I go next door and talk to the guys building our house, they are livid with the increases. Can't believe it's all the way back up to $3.70 a gallon. 🤣

When did you move to Mn. ?  Are you racing the Racer X Vet series ?   But speaking of racing I think the turn outs will be lower this yr. Because of the high fuel prices.

Maybe some sort of acknowledgement that you got caught lying? I mean that is what most adults would do in your situation at least.

Life long Washington resident on the Westside. You’re correct and it’s just the tip of the iceberg. We’ve been taxed to death. Used to be a great place to live, not so much anymore. I’m out once my inlaws have passed.

Taxed to death?  I live in WA state, but as far from Seattle as humanly possible and my tax burden is crumbs.  No state income tax, property taxes are reasonable, no tax on food or medicine, no Seattle sound tax and I have the option to drive 5 miles to Idaho and save $1/gal on gas.  I can also drive to OR or MT to make tax free purchases on big ticket items.  After living in CA, IL and OR.... Washington is a damn tax haven!

Washington State has the 8th highest cost of living of all the states.

What in the hell are you talking about ??

Only 2% of our oil comes from the Persian gulf.

Canadian, and American crude is what's referred to as, sweet crude.

Everything from middle eastern nations is a dark crude, high in sulphur, and more difficult to refine.

So our recent rise in prices is due to speculation. And panic.

Where's the lie ??

Spent a 5day weekend traveling around in a V8 4x4 SUV, gas prices be damned.

No lie there either.

But hey, you just keep on trolling.

Just saw where there's a few that have been put in time out for a while.

Somebody needs to take up their slack.

Even someone like you, who's not very good at it.

Carry on.

Edit:

Your calling me a liar sounds rather familiar. 🤣😂🤣

That's a hell of spin to avoid any accountability.

Here's the lie since you claim to not remember, in this thread you said that you didn't bitch and moan about prices during Biden, then it was pointed out that you in fact DID bitch and moan about prices.

If getting called a liar sounds familiar maybe you should quit being a liar? Or is it just easier for you to never take accountability and just play the victim?

Now go ahead with more of your bullshit to try to make everyone but yourself be the bad guy, I'm looking forward to seeing how far you will go to avoid any accountability.  I won't be engaging further, it's a waste of time to try to talk to people like you, you're a lost cause.

This is what countries are already doing to keep the prices low, for their citizens.

China: Capped retail price hikes at 10% (blocking a planned 20% increase), banned all gasoline and diesel exports to prioritize domestic supply, and began releasing hundreds of millions of barrels from strategic reserves.

Japan: Provided record subsidies of 30.2 yen per liter to wholesalers to freeze pump prices and tapped $5 billion in emergency reserves to fund these discounts.

Brazil: Eliminated all federal taxes on diesel and implemented a new 12% tax on crude oil exports to fund domestic fuel subsidies.

South Korea: Established a mandatory price ceiling on petrol and diesel for the first time in 30 years and approved a $16.6 billion emergency support budget.

Germany: Passed a law restricting gas stations to only one price increase per day (at noon) and is drafting a "windfall tax" on energy company profits.

Malaysia: Quadrupled its national fuel subsidy budget to 3.2 billion ringgit in a single week to keep prices at the pump stable.

Spain & Italy: Implemented immediate VAT (tax) reductions on fuel and granted direct "at-the-pump" discounts for all citizens.

Philippines & Pakistan: Mandated a four-day workweek for government employees and expanded work-from-home policies to cut national fuel consumption.

Sri Lanka & Bangladesh: Launched fuel rationing via QR-code passes and temporarily closed schools to conserve electricity and transport fuel.

@Joey Bridges: The funny thing is that many American refineries were built decades ago to process heavy crude oil from Venezuela and Canada. Now that the US produces a lot of light oil or like they call it "Light Sweet Crude" itself, they often have to export that light oil while continuing to import heavy oil to keep their facilities running optimally.

PS: I did some math and this are the figures for Belgium, a country without oil.
Diesel: before war $7,32/Gallon now $9,84/Gallon
RON95/E10 Fuel before war: $7,14/Gallon now $7,99/Gallon

Yes Moran, the cost of living has tripled in a little over a year in what fantasy land that you live in?

Everything went up 300%? Really? Or do you just make shit up because it makes you feel better?

And you are good with "eliminating" anyone who supports him? You should probably be on the FBI watchlist.

Edited to add: that is a beautiful bike in your bio pic.

I live in CA, high gas prices are just what we live with. It's tiring complaining about the same damn thing year after year after year. Absent the Iran issue, we'd still have high gas prices. Apparently we like abuse in CA.

Right? Gas prices going up 50 to 75 cents is kind of like what just happens when they switch to summer blend.

For those of you who don't live in California and don't get the "summer blend" reference, that's when the state requires refiners to add chemicals to reduce gasoline volatility and improve air quality. Think of it as "Extra-" Magic Gas, instead of the regular old Magic Gas that we already pay $1.50 more for than you do.
I sure am glad that the Magic Gas never runs out, allows my car to fly, and cures Cancer. Oh, wait, it doesn't do any of those things....

The summer bled is national wide not just Cal.

Our gas went up another 50 cents Thursday night so seeing it ranging from $3.60 - $3.80 and one already $3.99

We also have an additional layer of complexity here, however (CaRFG).

https://ww2.arb.ca.gov/our-work/programs/fuels-enforcment-program/california-reformulated-gasoline

Other states may have their own specific blends.

EDIT: Adding that I was mistaken about the summer blend being the CA-only expense. Our additional CA penalty derives from the CaRFG chemicals.

Where we live the gas is typically lower here than it is 15 miles away next to 77

Its odd I have 1 station Murphy Express that still hasn’t gone above $3.27 while all the rest went to $3.60-$3.80 and I see today they have changed to $3.60

Let's not downplay the owners of some stations taking advantage of the situation.

Locally, one man owns 5 shell stations, and 2 Exxon stations.

His prices are now $.20-30 higher that the grocery, and convenience store prices. 🤔

And crossing the state line into N.Carolina always sees higher prices due to state taxes. Now you have two shell stations just on the Tennessee side matching the Carolina prices.

Washington sets all time state high for price of diesel, $6.53. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/washington-diesel-prices-smash-all-time-record/gm-GME0B4C802

"...Possible future scenarios for Washington fuel costs

If the Strait of Hormuz remains closed and crude oil prices stay elevated, Washington could see diesel prices approach California’s $7 threshold, further straining agriculture and logistics. Alternatively, a diplomatic resolution could reopen shipping lanes, easing crude prices and stabilizing fuel costs, though state climate policy would likely keep Washington among the highest-priced states. The current situation echoes the 2022 fuel crisis but with compounded local policy effects."

Could be wrong but I believe middle eastern oil is much easier to refine than our oil, but agree with everything else.

Biden essentially opted to halt our production which put more reliance on foreign oil. Apparently foreign oil is more environmentally friendly 😣 (joke) Since then we’ve dodged much of our staff approving leases, and the EV mandates have changed. I think our oil producers are caught in the middle of a political battle and struggling to understand the demand. I honestly feel bad for them.

I’m generally a free market guy, but in general when OPEC cuts production to make it uneconomical for American producers, and we get double screwed on the back end, that’s not free market. So I’m all for energy independence.

I feel that three of our biggest security concerns at the moment are energy independence; debt/deficit, and our reliance on china for products. I get why Trump is trying to correct these things, but you can’t turn a ship on a dime and I wonder if we’ll be bankrupt before it’s over.

In 3 years, we could be back to EV mandates. The fact of the matter is that demand for oil is not going away regardless, so let’s produce our own.

I was in the market for a diesel truck, but may hold off. Or maybe this is a good time to buy?
